I really do not understand the bad reviews. I love this restaurant. The trout is definitely the way to go for an entree. The new bar is beautiful and very friendly staff. I ve never had a problem at this restaurant. The view of the river is very beautiful. I highly recommend this restaurant.
This restaurant doesn t even deserve one star. I was VERY let down. Driving up and seeing so many people waiting, you would think this would be an amazing place to eat at. My family (my husband, me, and two small kids) waited an hour for a table, then waited an hour for our food. I wasn t hungry after waiting an hour. When my chicken fingers were brought out I was told they were out of baked potatoes (why wasn t I told that an hour ago!?) I told the guy to just take my meal off, I didn t want it I was still charged $5 for a side salad (which was horrible!) and a roll. Not one person said sorry that we had to wait so long or anything. Our waitress was having a really bad night, to start our meal off, she was actually CRYING taking our drink order. Which,I am a woman, and I have worked in the restaurant business before and I know it does get stressful, but coming to our table like that should not have happened. Other workers walked right by the poor girl like nothing was wrong. Really strange. In the end I paid for my meal, tipped my poor waitress and told my complaints to the lady upfront. I wasn t trying to get anything for free (which nothing was given to me) but the lady didn t seem to care at all that I had a bad experience. So, I ended up paying $35 for my husband s meal, me a gross side salad, and my kids shared a meal. I really wish I would of made the drive down the mountain and eaten at McDonald s. Don t waste your money here!!
While it was always scenic before the fire that razed it, the food was OK to good, but with the rebuild and expanded menu and seating, it s very good. We ve eaten there 3 times since it reopened and loved it.There s a reason people will travel 9 miles along twisting up and down roads to enjoy a meal. To say you had the worst meal of your life shows you haven t eaten much beyond Burger King.It s known for it s trout dishes, and to order Italian dishes , for example, is just plain stupid.Parking at any good restaurant is usually a pain and this place is no exception. It s because so many people seek it out. Some of the waitresses have a lot to learn about service, but they all have good attitudes and try to be helpful.Waits at peak periods can be weary, but you go understanding that possibility.Moderate prices and good food along with the scenic river views( before sundown) in an area with limited dining make this place a must try .
I have always adored this restaurant with its slow southern charm. The view of the river can t be beat. Whether you order the fresh catch (which is right out of the Toccoa River), the appetizer of the day, salad or pasta, the food choices are modern, the presentation is beautiful, and the food is fabulous. I have been coming to Blue Ridge since 1980, and I highly recommend this restaurant for its history in the area, the view and most especially, the food!
Went to the Toccoa Riverside Rest for the first time, I had read the reviews and was a little skeptical, but I am so glad I went. The location and the view is absolutely beautiful. Service was great and the food was wonderful, I had the Mahi Mahi it was great and my friend had the Salmon with a horse radish sauce on it and she loved it. We will definately go again. I went during the week so there wasn t a wait. But lets face it people when you go to a great restaurant in the Atlanta, especially on a weekend, you expect to wait awhile so either go early or be ready to wait get a glass of wine and go sit down by the river and enjoy!!!!
We went to the new restaurant tonight and were very impressed. Didn t really love the restaurant before the fire but tried it again since it had been rebuilt. The rebuild is very well done. They have a very nice bar now and our bartender (Stacy) was very friendly and service was great. The bar needs more seats and some some high top tables though. Our meal was good. Thank god no more out outdated salad bar. The best part was the new server Timothy. Ask for him. He s great.
Went there on Sat 02-16-13 @ 6:30PM and was told there would be a 30 min wait. After waiting for 1 hr and 15 min went to ask how much longer & was told didn t know as she couldn t see seating area. Left after waiting 1 1/2 hours as did many others. Many people had reservations & were waiting long periods. They told us 30 min to get us to stay and now we will never return as many others. Also got a good look at food during the wait (as we were waiting by kitchen) and it doesn t look like we missed much. By misleading us, they assured we will never return.
