Paul's Steakhouse & Lounge, Helen

Right off the bat, Paul's has a really poor beer selection for a Steakhouse. If they had just opened, I could understand but they've been around for awhile. The only beers they have on draft are Bud and Amberbock. I've been to hole-in-the-wall restaurants with better selection. You can't get the draft beers in a pitcher, only over prices 32 oz souvenir mugs. We ended up ordering mixed drinks, they were ok but way over priced. The appetizer selection was very strange for a steakhouse, as it was mostly sea-food. Same goes with the rest of the menu, there were more seafood option than steak/steakhouse option. My husband and I had only planned to have drinks and not dinner so we ordered wings and conch fritters. Wings were ok, but one was a little brunt, Conch Fritters were hit and miss. One would be chewy and one would be almost all breading. Then our bill, after two drinks, two bottle beers and two small appetizers was almost $50! That's crazy high for how low quality the food was. Then after getting back to the hotel, my husband was up most of the night was terrible upset stomach/heart burn. He says he's never been this sick after eating something, that didn't end up being food poisoning. He's had to chug pepto and milk to get half way back to normal, and almost 12 hours later is still feeling really ill. If you are ever in Helen, you are better off going to Betty's Country Store and picking up some food to nuke in your hotel room. DO NOT GO TO PAUL'S!!

Should have walked out when we saw it was empty. Frozen food (waitress admitted this). Flavorless shrimp, flavorless chicken, AWFUL DESSERT!!! The only good thing was the baked potato. Seriously PLEASE don't waste your time!

JESUS PAUL, SHAME ON YOU! this place was AWFUL! i think the only thing that was good when me and my family went in was the steak. i ordered chicken wings, and no flavor whatsoever. they also gave me ranch dressing with them that had the strangest texture and was no ranch ive ever tasted before. tasted like stale chewy mayonaise. the chicken wings tasted cheap, like wings that a 4 yr old could slap on a cooking pan. and to top it off, our bill had the tip already included, and they tipped us twice even though we were one group and 2 separate bills. $18 tip on one bill and $6 something on me and my girlfriends, SERIOUSLY! the food was waaayyy OVERPRICED! there was nothing on the menu under $16. just go to kroger and pick some things up for under $16 and you have pauls steakhouse for cheaper. will NEVER set foot in this place again. i recommend you dont, save your wallet and your life!

Okay, I have been going to Paul s for many years and it has always been great. Today I take my wife to celebrate our ten year anniversary and it was the worst experience with seafood I have ever had. First we order fried mushrooms, they come out and are at the very least cold in the center. I even had one I thought was frozen in the center. The waitress takes them back and in a few minutes returns with some more...better but some what chilled in the center. Second the house salad comes out...lettuce, shredded cabbage and carrots. Really not what I call a house salad. Third, my wife ordered a broiled platter of shrimp and scallops...it comes out and there are four of each on the plate. This is a platter? Last but not least I bite into one of my fried oysters and it tasted like, well I can t really say what I am thinking but it was awful. Thanks anyway Paul s but I don t think I will be returning in this lifetime!

My husband and I ate here for the first time and it was amazing!! The seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. I would advise anyone to go eat here, I promise you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be returning to Helen to eat at Paul s again to enjoy the family oriented atmosphere.

I am not to sure if the people writing rave reviews are workers or owners at Paul's. My wife and I recently ate there and this is what we incurred. High prices,poor steak quality,terrible salad, one that you would expect in a very low class establishment. We were told if we would like cheese on salad it was extra. Salad ingredients were lettuce and shredded carrots. I guess you are paying for the view because the food is definetly not worth the price.

I was very wary about visiting here after reading reviews, however, WE LOVED IT! Sure, it's pricey, but for what you get, the price is worth it. Your going to pay for good food, good service and good atmosphere, and that is what you get. The food was great, the atmosphere was great and our waitress Jennifer, was great -- as were the two hostess's We had ZERO problems and will make it a regular visit when in Helen. Try it yourself, don't go by other reviews. I'm glad that we gave it a go and formed our own opinion.

My husband and I visited this location last night and was very pleased...service was excellent and we were very pleased with the food...this will be a place we visit when we return for another getaway...
