Fat Matt's Rib Shack, Atlanta

Right now I have mixed feelings about this place. The best barbecue and one of the best bands, but the worst service ever. The lady in the cashier was nice, but there was this waitress (white, dark hair) that literally wanted us out of there. After 5 min that I was eating, she came and ask if I wanted a to go box, which it was ok, and I said yes. No joke, after 10 min she came back and I had my silver ware (literally on my hands) and she started to pull out my plate. I was speechless. Seriously, I had my knife and fork in hands. What made her think I was done? I don't the southern hospitality, isn't for everyone, but this was straight up rude and unacceptable. The food is great, maybe you can pick up, unless you can deal with rude waitress.

Average food quality. The chicken is better than the ribs, although neither is remarkable, and lacking in smoke flavor that comes from cooking over wood. The slaw is mayonnaise based, as I prefer, but the taste was off. Great ambiance which lives up to the "shack" moniker and courteous service. Go elsewhere if you prefer your BBQ slow-cooked over a wood fire.

Love Fat Matt's!! The food is always so good. On Tuesdays they have live music. Their BBQ sandwiches are delicious!

Great food - BEST BBQ and Ribs I've ever had - and great blues music to boot! Those looking for a fancy place, don't go to Fat Matt's, 'cause it's a dive, but they are friendly, quick, and did I mention how great the food is?!?!? I loved it, and I'll be back as often as I can!

This place has awesome ribs. Be prepared to walk... ummm, I mean waddle away very full. The sauce is incredible as well as the servings. Fall off the bone ribs.. and blues to boot! It's a fairly tiny place, so expect to be a little cramped if you are inside..but you won't notice once you start to feast.

Wow! Let me warn you that must be prepared to put on five pounds. Now after that disclaimer, I tell Fat Matt's has the best tasting BBQ ribs ever! There spot is small and crowded, even in the middle of the afternoon, but don't worry if you don't have time to wait, you can order via phone or online. This one of thos hole-in-the-wall spots you wish you new about, when your out of town and wanting some good comfort food. We drove 30 miles to get our order, and it was worht every smack! They are pricey through.

You have got to stop here. If you cannot stop by, blow your auto horn! This spot is a must to visit.

Highly overrated.
