Vortex Bar & Grill, Atlanta

The Vortex is a great place to eat. They have bike night on thursdays and my wonderful husband took me out to the vortex to eat for an early mother's day dinner. I really enjoyed myself. The vortex does need to be bigger. I love going there.

Not for me. Wouldn't know if the food was good or not. Absolutely such a smoke-filled restaurant that I can't imagine anyone really tasting their food. Couldn't breathe - even in a (supposedly) smoke free area. Folks were smoking at the next table - UGH! I know the owners/managers of this place don't really care, so patron-be-ware.

The Vortex is one of a kind with over 20 types of burgers on display. The ambience is unique in goth rockish, so not a family place. The waiter rules are a riot having been a waiter and the food is excellent for the bar food that it is. People usually get burgers but I get the other sandwiches that are just as good if not better. The Cuban sandwich with a side of fried zuchinni hits the spot for me.

The vortex is the BOMB! In addition to the burgers, the drinks are very reasonably priced and the potato salad is to die for!! The service is better in Little Five Points (pictured in this review)...but the one in the MidTown area is pretty good too. The only issue I had in MidTown is the overly flirty manager who flirted with our server so much (she really liked it) that she was distracted from DOING HER JOB!

When I visit Atlanta, I ALWAYS stop by the Vortex. Absolutely the best burgers anywhere! The atmosphere is awesome: friendly bartenders (unless you are a total ass) and the food is consistently awesome.

Pay no attention to the nay sayers and whiners. The Vortex offers the best hamburger in Atlanta. My favorites are the Rajin’ Cajun and Big Blue. The servers are not rude and yes, you are expected to tip. Unless you’re a scumbag you’ll tip your server, anyway. This restaurant is not for the faint of heart or uptake people, but you’ll get some awesome food at a very affordable price. My only complaint about the restaurant is that have recently removed some of their best appetizers from the menu - the fried and stuffed jalapeños. If you’re able, visit the one on Moreland. It has more character, though the food is every bit as good as at the Midtown location.

All I can say is WOW! Great Burgers and Desserts. And how about all them different beers! Be sure and ask for K.T. She is the best!

First and foremost, it is clearly stated on the menu that there will be NO Whining, and that the customer is NOT always right. So, anyone that goes in and picks up the menu is warned. Secondly, the place has the best bartenders in Atlanta. Third, they have a beer and scotch selection that is unmatched by ANY bar in the southeast. Forth, They DO have the very best burgers south of the Mason-Dixon line, bar none. Fifth, the Vortex hosts the best bike night events in the state. If you don't like tattoos on you wait staff, can't deal with the fact that the tip will be included in the bill if you have 6 or more in your party, don't get sarcasm, and generally like to complain about your meals no matter where you go- then stay the h3ll away from the place. We don't want you here in the first place. The Vortex is for those that understand you may have to put up with slow service to receive quality food and beverages. Life's a trade off- Get used to it.
