El Torero Mexican Restaurant, Duluth

Wife and I tried for first time and last. We had a plate consisting of one Chimichanga and a small flauta which was nothing but a crisp tortilla and inside nothing but typical shredded flank steak. When we asked for sauce or cheese over top the Chimichanga and Flauta it was an additional $1.75 for an already $10.40 meal. There was a tablespoon of beans a rice but very disappointed for such a bland, greasy meal. Bathroom was nasty and servers were less than friendly (actually an understatement). Atmosphere much like that of a fast food and speaking of fast food we would have been just as better off at Taco Bell

I hate to disagree with other reviewers, but there are better Mexican restaurants in the area than this one. The swordfish on the walls don't evoke Mexican ambience to me. The service was fine, but not terribly friendly. I got two chimichangas that were served with only a slice of tomato on a big pile of lettuce and a little guacamole. I also got a margarita and the cheese dip that everyone says is so good. My bill was over $22! I've dined in several Mexican restaurants in the area, and usually rice and pico de gallo are served as part of any meal. Other restaurants, for what I paid at El Torero, have live music and a lot more Mexican ambience. I was hoping that by going to El Torero I'd find a wonderful alternative to the other places that I usually go, but I won't be going back.

Absolutely wonderful! I was first introduced to El Torero in 2007, and it immediately became my favorite Mexican restaurant. For starters, the tortilla chips are thin and crisp and the salsa is pleasantly spicy. The chicken taco is seasoned perfectly with spices and vegetables and is topped with a fresh and flavorful, shreddded cheese. I also love the chicken flauta a la carte. I would highly recommend this particular location for anyone in the mood for good Mexican food!

This place is great. I stopped here with my family (age 9 to 43) and everyone loved the food. Plenty of servers that refilled the cokes and teas. The food came out quickly and tasted better than most in the Southeast. The cheese dip was creamy and the salsa was spicy. The Chimichanga (steak and chicken) are so good I would drive for hours to eat them. There are 8 childrens meals and the main menu is very large. A must if you are in Atlanta.
