By chance, 1/15/11
Eaten here several times. The first time we had chef David and he was great, but it has gotten progressively worse each time and today was the last time. The chef was sloppy, he repeatedly dropped the utensils he was trying to twirl (once on my plate and then in the floor), insisted on putting an unbelievable amount of salt on everything even though everyone at the table was asking him not too. He even argued that it wasn't too much. Cooked the fried rice and asked a child if she wanted to try some- she said no but he plopped a large pile on her plate anyway. Her mother slide it into a pile in the corner of the plate because not only did she not want the fried rice, she certainly didn't want it slopped all over her plate. Then he cooked only vegatables -barely cooked the onions but mixed them in at the last moment and served them with the rest. Then started the steaks -stopped in the middle of serving them to answer his phone. Then started the shrimp and chicken- did finally listen about the salt but the drown them in teryaki sauce. Meanwhile the server is reaching across my plate to get a bowl that was plenty accessible if she had taken one more step to my left. When another person asked for the lite soysauce from the other side of the table she picked it up and proceded to lean completely over another customers' plate with her body and a tray. When she went to stand back up she knocked a full coke into the customers lap with the tray. She apologized and got napkins to sop up the coke, but at no time did she or the manager offer the poor lady a free desert or meal or even try to make it right. She also decided to combine the check even though we weren't together. Before we left we wittnessed another chef drop the cleaning clothes off his cart onto the floor on the way to the table. He picked them up and put them back on the cart right beside the uncooked meat. I'm sorry but I don't think this is fixable. I am truely afraid to eat there again.

Let me just say I love this place. I've only been to a few Japanese restaurants and I always come back to Shogun. I love their ginger sauce so much. I just pour it over my fried rice and its sooo good. Don't let me get on the salad dressing. Its by far the best salad dressing I've ever had. They're so good and good service you have to try it.

Overall, not a bad place to dine. The hibachi was top notch. The sushi, however, was sub par. If you're in the mood for nice Japanese food, definitely try this place out. If you want sushi, try somewhere else. I'm a big fan of Samurai Blue, myself.

This has to be my favorite japanese restaraunt in duluth. I love the food! Its so delicious and the service is wonderful! I only eat in the sushi bar, and my god the sushi is great- delicious and fresh! I suggest ordering the love honey roll for sushi, and the side of hibachi lobster makes my mouth water!

Our favorite sushi in ATL

The food and service is so good that my family has never even been to the hibachi grill. The crunch rolls have just the right amount of crunch; the smelt roe is very delicately flavored. The cucumber roll packs a special punch with a dab of wasabi in the middle. The fried rice is perfect since they use sticky rice.
