This Is It!
The name says it all. If you're looking for great barbecue on the east side of Atlanta, this is it . However, if you're afraid to get your hands dirty, you may as well stay home. The simple dining room is designed for one thing: the systematic devouring of pork. Known for their signature ribs, This Is It! is a favorite of regular patrons for its slide-off-the-bone goodness. Shredded and pulled pork and beef, plus some barbecue chicken items round out the menu. See website for full menu, other locations, and further information.
OMG...talking about WORST...I WILL NEVER GO BACK...and I have tried 2 locations and the food just aint it...service was POOOOOOOOOR...all I have to say is STOP WITH THE COMMERCIALS...CUZ YOUR FOOD AINT IT...MOVING ON!!
Please at all cost avoid going to this restaurant. Mainly this location! As my first time trying out the restaurant, it was the worst place i ate at. The workers were VERY unprofessional, and ghetto if you ask me. They were very rude. The meals are over priced, and the food was not that great. My greens were greasy, the ribs were nothing but fat, the bread was cold. The only thing I liked was the tilapia, and the mac n cheese. I dine-in and the waitress was on her phone talking while serving us. She even brought out of food one at a time...like she literally brought out the sides one by one then the meat, it was like a ten minute wait between each item she brought out. I will never go to this place again! As an African American, I tried to support black businesses, but was disappointed. I kinda want my 15 bucks back that I wasted.
Well after two tries we've decided This Is It is Not It for us . They have a nice selection of side items but unfortunately the taste isn't very good for the items we've tried on the veggie plates the two times we've been there. We've tried the dressing, collard greens, black eyed peas, potato salad, mac and cheese, cabbage, corn bread, sweet potato souffle, and banana pudding.
Okay first the good stuff -the staff is very friendly. The corn bread muffin, sweet potato souffle/pie, and banana pudding are delicious!! I've decided I'll only go there when I have a sweet potato pie or banana pudding craving.
Okay the rest of the sides just didn't taste good. The collard greens were tough and had such a bad flavor that I can't describe it other than an awful. We both had to spit it out immediately. The dressing didn't have any flavor - maybe some gravy would have helped. I love black eyed peas but both times they've been too salty.
My hubby refuses to try them again so we won't be going back. I may stop in for some banana pudding once in a while though.
01/19/2009 my family ate lunch at this is it the food was excellent , the service was excellent, and shelby who was the person that seated us was outstanding in making sure we had every thing we needed and more seldomly do you find excellience expressed so well that we were overly joyed keep up the great work. my husband enjoyed the ribs and chitteling so munch he wanted to bring some home to louisiana. again if you are in georgia go to this is it because you wante be disappointed because we got home to louisiana and wish they had a this is it here .
This restaurant was recommended to me being that I am new to the Atlanta, GA area. For this to be a soul food restaurant the overall taste was okay. I ordered beef rib tips which were excellent with mac & chesse and cabbage. The mac & chesse needed some seasoning and the cabbage tasted like it had sugar in it. If that is how the cabbage is made in the south then I understand but I didn't care for it. Now I really like cornbread and the cornbread muffin was good. My friend ordered half bbq chicken, potato salad, greens, and baked beans. She loved her chicken but didn't like the rest we tasted each others food and we both agree that they are great with the meats but need a little help with the side dishes. We each took home a piece of cake which was very good. The staff that day seemed to be to occupied with talking to each other that they didn't offer much help with the ordering process. I'm not really sure if I will return to this restaurant, they have a great idea with the style of the restaurant, but the staff needs to step it up a notch. I may just visit for take out for the meats and cake but leave the sides.
This restaurant is off tha chain! If you want some good old fashioned cooking with some real soul, go here. The service was wonderful and the facilaties were very clean. If you are in the area, i beg of you check it out!
I listened to an outdated advertisement (an ad advertising a black history month special, in April as opposed to February) on the radio regarding the restaurant's tilapia, and decided to give it a try. The ambiance was unsightly, the service was poor, unpersonable and ghetto. And calling in an order, is difficult, WHEN THE ESTABLISHMENT DOES NOT ANSWER THE TELEPHONE! Considering oxtails, greens, & dressing to go is $15.00, for the lack of service, small portions, and ghetto service, I'll take my money and my business elsewhere.
