Description

Nestled amidst the ancient, moss draped oaks in Harbour Town, CQ's combines great fun, fine dining and a touch of Hilton Head Island history. CQ's has the feeling of an old, cozy, and comfortable inn. Heart-of-pine floors, wooden mantle pieces, stained glass, and the photographs and memorabilia of the Lowcountry culture all contribute to the charm that has made CQ's the place to dine since 1973. Inspired by the abundant varieties of fresh seafood, beef and game available. Our chef creates dishes that are best described as contemporary American with classic influences. Recognized for having the most extensive wine list on Hilton Head Island, CQ's offers more than 400 wine selections with over 70 poured by the glass.

I was so disappointed in this restaurant. I never write reviews and yet I have gone to the trouble to write and register so that I can let people know that this kind of food is not OK.....I love many restaurants on this island....Red Fish, Sunset Grille, Old Fort Pub (the best)....I knew that CQ's was in the same family as Old Fort Pub....well, the price is the same, but the food is not even close. To cook asparagus so that is mushy is not OK, to mess up food orders is not OK, to describe food as one thing and it be something else entirely is not OK, to bring the wrong food to the trable is not OK....I read thes and think that the people that complain are just fussy. We are not - we love good food and don't mind paying for it. This was not good.

The food and service was great! Chef Sayers has a terrific menu with careful attention to detail. CQ's has an extensive wine list and bar. Leave room for the yummy desserts. The staff is courteous and attentive. A+++++

We were not impressed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/07
The menu is a fabulous read, the photos and presentation are outstanding. However, visiting Hilton Head from a similarly sized resort area where I make my living in the service industry, the service here was hugely lacking. We waited too long for a table (with reservations) on a slow night, our water nor wine were filled without asking (the wine bottle was taken away after the 1st pour), no bread refill was offered, and cream for the coffee was delivered long after the coffee as was the desert wine which was to accompany the desert. The food was ok. The special seafood bisque could have been mistaken for squash or pumpkin soup. The chicken and special fish of the night were both extremely dry. For the $$, it is overrated.

Excellent Dinner!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/07
I can't say enough about this place. We make sure to dine here everytime we come to the Island. Chef Sayers food is incredible. We enjoy their friendly staff and they have lots of wine choices. If you have never tried venison before you must do so here.

Terrific... nice atmosphere, good service and really good food. My wife and I and our friends had a great time here. Had heard good things and they came through.

terrible service! Terrible smell!
By janet, 7/17/07
the whole old effect was kind of gross. I don't like to smell moth balls when I atticipate eating a great meal. Once I thought I got over that the server blew the whole thing. Why does everyone just stand behind the podium.. FYI, reVAMP the house!

Will be back next year!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/06
I chose CQ's as the place to give an engagement ring to my (now) wife. The staff bent over backwards to accomodate me. Many thanks to Hostess-Katie, Waitress-Emily, and Chef-Eric. Everything about the evening was perfect. The only thing I'm sorry about is that we never visited there during our previous 6 or 7 vacations.

Great ambiance, smiling faces, poor service
By Lisa, 9/12/06
Our evening at CQ's began well enough. The Basil Hayden was perfect, and the recommended glass of white for the lady suited her well. The bartenders even poured two whites for her to choose from, a welcome occasion considering the typical restaurant's stinginess with their by-the-glass pours. Things began going downhill after being seated at our table. The waiter didn't know the specials very well, and took his time retreiving our bottle of Conundrum. After placing our order, the server failed to bring bread for a good 10 minutes. Finally our first course arrived. Everything seemed fine until I noticed a hair in my soup. These things happen, I pointed it out, and the situation was corrected. Entrees arrived soon thereafter. They were pleasing enough however bland. Very basic flavours. The final straw was with the bill. To my surprise, this waiter charged us for the hairy soup. Very dissapointing. Thank goodness for the Conundrum. At least the winemakers were on the ball to save the night.

CQ's is the Best Restaurant on Hilton Head!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/30/06
My wife and I are from New York City so we know a thing or two about Fine Dining Restaurants. Let me just say that I wish CQ's was in our neck of the woods. We vacation every year on Hilton Head Island and no trip is complete without visiting Chef Eric Sayers and the amazing staff of professionals at this restaurant. The wine list is unbelievable and the last time we dined we shared a bottle of Silver Oak with two perfectly cooked filet mignons. Cq's is also a a great to go after watching the Heritage Golf Tournament in April. You are bound to see faces of the PGA at several tables. Be sure and make reservations - this place is hot and happening!
