Carolina Roadhouse
Description
The interior design and magnificent architecture of this eatery, accented by potted palms and lots of woodwork, add to the warm, friendly atmosphere. Here, they cook the steaks just right and the rib servings are generous. For non-beef eaters, there is a varied menu including fish, chicken and four different, huge salads, each accompanied by a warm, sticky croissant. Be sure to try the outstanding warm bacon and honey mustard house dressing. This popular restaurant gets very busy on weekends and every night during the summer. Reservations are not accepted.
My husband and I eat at the Carolina Road House about 6 or 7 times a year when we visit the beach area. We have always loved the taste of their steaks.
It is a busy place and the set up is not the best in the world. You enter in the back and have to walk through the entire resturant to give your name to the hostess. You can make reservations but they do not hold tables for you. You will just be given one of the first available after the time of your reservation. Still it is better than waiting over an hour during the summer season.
I would have given 5 stars until our last visit. My husband and I went New Years Eve for a very early dinner. We had a cocktail before the meal, then a glass of their very good southern sweet tea, each of us had steak that was not as good as usual, then each had a desert. Our meal was in the $90 range. Not too bad for a very nice meal. Then we asked for a cup of coffee each with our desert. Imagine our surrprise when we each were charged $1.99 for the coffee.
I'm sorry. We just paid 90 bucks for a meal that we were rushed through and then they add 4 dollars for 2 cups of coffee that had to cost them less than 5 cents total. I don't think I've had a resturant charge me for an after dinner coffee in quite some time. Usually they are very happy for your business and if you have had a complete meal, coffee is gratis.
We may go back to the Carolina Road House, but not without checking other great places in the area that we had been omitting because this WAS our favorite. Perhaps we will find a new favorite. Carolina Roadhouse should be more appreciative of its customers.
We have been vacationing to Myrtle Beach for over 15 years. We only discovered Carolina Roadhouse 3 years ago, and let me tell you they make a fantastic steak. If you ask for a medium rare steak, that is what you get. My family and I all agree the place is priced just right, but you can get a testy waiter/ess. The servers tend to be a little immature and eager to get you out and another tipper in. Over All A-
First place we go to when we get here. We have been coming to myrtle beach for 20 years and can honestly say it is our favorite place to eat. Quality food, staff, and atmosphere. We keep going back!
Whenever we are planning our trip to Myrtle Beach, we always include a stop at the Carolina Roadhouse. I remember searching the internet when we got home one year to see if there was another restaurant like this in my state. Great house dressing, the rolls are fantastic and the best steaks anywhere. I like my steak well done, but it is still so tender it can be cut with a fork. A definite must for any visitor to Myrtle Beach!
