Thoroughbreds Restaurant, Myrtle Beach

Totally outdated menu, steak that is coffee and peppercorn encrusted. No steak flavor at all. Med-rare steak with no flavor at all and was dry as it could be. Pair that with some 2 day old dry mashed potatoes and it was super Terrible. Never asked me how my meal was. I think they knew. Avoid this place !!

Disappointing, What a disappointing evening for a restaurant that advertises that they are a fine dining establishment, we dined at Thoroughbreds this past week week and it was disappointing from start to finish, our steaks were over cooked we ordered them pittsburgh style and they came out well done and the side items that came with them were over cooked as well, the vegtables were not fresh or crisp and the mashpotatoes I have better at fast food chicken restaurants than this place, our server (male) we could hardly understand him and did not seem very happy to be there was not visible through out our dinner, had to ask at the beginning what the specials were and refills on our drinks, we seemed rushed he started clearing our plates before we were done which we told him to stop, at the end someone else removed our plates the server than came up with the check and left it on the table did not even ask if we wanted dessert which a few of us wanted coffee and dessert at this time we just paid and left. Again what a disappointing evening We have had better service at fast food restaurants and food. WILL NOT RETURN

Enjoyed my visit and meal. Everyone at my table had steak - Delmonicos? I forget, but I do remember they were very good - not incredible, but very good. The shrimp and grits (I ordered the appt.) was incredibly delicious. If I am ever back in Myrtle Beach I will get the Shrimp and Grits as my main meal - wonderful!

3/23/2008 - Had brunch here today. All the meats, pork and lamb, and the fish were over cooked. Deserts were poorly served, large pieces pre-cut that prevented sampling. Potatoe salad had potatoes that appeared to be uncooked. Terrible experience. Would not recommend buffet. Formal diner is excellent.

Wow what a place. The manager Dave has his act together and so does his crew. The food was outstanding and the service was perfect. I go down to Myrtle each year with 7 other golfers and we went to Cagney for about 9 years. Last year the service was terrible and management was non-responsive to our complaints. Thoroughbreds is in a different class than Cagneys could ever be. We have a new tradition - Thoroughbreds and Thank you Dave and our great server Brianna. See you next year Shane

Loved the way the staff make you feel as well as the marvelous food and service. The romantic atmosphere with its warmth and elegance makes Thoroughbreds the best choice of those wishing to celebrate a special occasion.

The food, service, and ambiance cannot be beat! It was truly excellent. The only thing that I did not like was the price of the food/drinks. However, it was the best meal that my wife and I have ever had.-honestly.
