Joe's Crab Shack
If you like crab, this is the place to eat. Joe's Crab Shack, located at Broadway at the Beach, serves more than six varieties of crab in five different ways, all year round. Don't be fooled by the extremely casual atmosphere. The restaurant is one cavernous room with large wooden tables and memorabilia from the 50's and 60's on the walls. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. Besides crab, Joe's also has soups, sandwiches, grilled tuna, shrimp, salmon, and steaks. They also pack crab for traveling.
The food was HORRIBLE!!! The cheesebread was BURNT!!! Everything was disgusting!! The only nice thing was that we were seated on the patio next to the kid playset, so that helped the ansy 3 year old. The service was slow, and hurried. I would rather eat McDonalds.
WE CAN'T WAIT UNTIL WE GET THERE DURING BIKE WEEK :)

WE LOVE STUFFED MUSHROOMS, THEY HAVE, (HOPE THET STILL DO:)THE BEST ONES WE'VE EVER ATE, THATS ALL WE WANTED TO EAT, THEY WERE TO DIE FOR, I HEARD THEY WERE NO LONGER SERVING THEM, I SURE HOPE THEY'RE WRONG, THATS THE FIRST THING WE'RE GOING TO DO, IS GO THERE & EAT :)DEBBIE R. FROM W.VA.
I wasn't impressed with this place. The food isn't all that and the price is a little steep for the quality. Ambiance? at Joe's? get real ! If you want ambiance, a crab shack is not where you find it. If you want superb seafood, you have to go to the places in Calabash or Murrells Inlet where they actually know something about seafood.
this place was excellent! the food was great, there is a play area for the kids which they loved. the table we had was outside and it was all water front and very pretty. inside was just as nice a lot of neat decorations. this was my favorite place of all the places we went.
This is much like all the other Joe's throughout the country. This restaurant overlooks the lake at Barefoot Landing. I had the shrimp plate, which was good but typical to every other that I've eaten at. The service was pretty good. Overall, I'd say visit this restaurant if you want some good seafood, but don't expect any of the local flair to be included. Try one of the local seafood buffets for an authentic local taste with more seafood then you can eat.
