Chesapeake House, Myrtle Beach

My family vacationed in North Mrytle Beach last summer 2010...we ate at Chesapeke House early in the week..was impressed.. and finished our visit to the beach by going back to the Chesapeke House on our last night there!. The main draw was the King Crab legs! The largest legs I have ever eaten! Along with the complimentary soup, cinnamon rolls, hush puppies and salad with meal....we did not leave hungary!! A older eatery, kinda 60's feel, but, I thought it was too cool! Check it out! If we come back to the area on vacation, we will definitely go back! Maybe two more times in the same week!

Based on the great reviews and its designation as the #1 seafood restaurant in Myrtle Beach, my friend and I ate there on 23 Sept 2010. She had the shrimp and grits; I had the Chesapeake baked flounder. The food was completely devoid of seasoning. The shrimp were wallowing in brown gravy from a McCormick's package. Even hot sauce couldn't rescue it. The flounder wasn't worth saving to feed the dog. A memorable meal, but not in a positive sense.

Our party of two decided to try Chesapeake House after reading the couple of good reviews here on this page. I can agree that this place is excellent. We called and made reservations for early New year Eve, and upon arriving were promptly seated. Our waitress, Karen, was friendly, helpful and efficient. Our food was excellent and we had more than we could possibly think about eating!! I ordered the soft shell crab dinner, and my boyfriend ordered the combo platter with scallops and flounder (broiled). Both dishes were cooked perfectly, adding just enough to seasoning to taste while maintaining the true flavor of the seafood. The bring you out a basket full of bread before your meal (cinnamon rolls, yeast bread and great hushpuppies), along with a small sampling of their fish stew (very good, but only if you like the strong seafood flavor). Salads were delivered shortly after, well prepared. Karen kept our drinks filled the whole time and made sure that we had something in which to take our leftovers with us on our trip back to Virginia.we were very pleased with the place, and we will return on future visits.
