HORRID, EXPENSIVE, THE WAIT WAS EXTREME, FOOD UNINSPIRED- AM FROM CHARLOTTE AND ANY SEAFOOD RESTAURANT IS A BETTER CHOICE. TOO MANY RESTAURANTS TO CHOOSE FROM IN MB TO GO BACK. PEOPLE WHO EAT HERE AND RATE IT HIGHLY, MUST HAVE LIMITED EXPERIENCE IN SEAFOOD DINING. A RESTAURANT OWNER

It's been 6 years too long since dining at Sea Captain's House
By ,
My husband and I agree that they have the best fried shrimp and the old house the restaurant is located in is beautiful, yet casual. It reminds me of Cape Cod. We only stayed in Myrtle Beach for 2 nights but, after dining at Sea Captain's House the first night, there was no question as to where we would dine the second night. Ooh Laa Laa!!

Right on the beach.

I have been going here for thirty years. Love the food and view. Great memories of the place. One place that hasn't gone down in quality. Servers are usually very friendly. The wait isn't that bad during the 'in' season.

This place was gross...not worth the money at all. Red Lobster is 50 times better. Very limited menus. My husband's fried dishes were all soggy, not crispy at all. My broiled flounder had no seasoning and the rice tasted days old. Yuck. The table next to us sent their meal back because the slamon was not cooked all the way. STAY AWAY!

Breathtaking View and Great Food
By ,
Our 1st visit to Myrtle Beach was made even better when we stopped in this restraunt. The Shecrab soup is all that it is famous for. The seafood is fresh and delicious. The staff members were all courtious and attentive to our dining experience. The best part was the ocean view while dining. After dinner we sat outside on one of thier swings to take in the fresh salty breeze and the sights and sounds of crashing waves upon the beach. This will be an experience to look foward to again. -Alabama Couple

My family and I visited the Sea Captain's House on Thursday, July 26th, 2012, to end our vacation on a high note. I hadn't been in a few years, but I had a pleasurable experience during my last visit and wanted to share this 'diamond in the rough' with my parents and nieces who had never been. The evening started with a very friendly server. She got out drinks quickly and brought us some hushpuppies and butter to enjoy before our meals arrived. We did have to swat a couple flies, but we figured it was part of dining right on the beachfront. Shortly after our salads arrived, we noticed a family at the next table looking in our direction (we were seated a few feet from the wall/drink station). We thought it odd so we turned around to see a huge insect (looked like a cockroach but a beach bug of some sort) crawling on a tray of tea pitchers. This insect then took a trip to the floor and ran under our table. I tried to step on it, but it quickly ran towards another wall. I told our server about it, and I could tell she was very embarrassed. I was also very embarrassed because my review was what brought us here in the first place. Within a few minutes, a man (who we later learned to be the manager), came out with another young man and started inspecting behind furniture in the dining room. They started behind the wrong wall, but he never came over to ask us. While they were inspecting, 2 more of the same insects came out of the same spot - one scurrying along the wall and one ran quickly towards my table on the floor. My mom jumped. The boy with the manager jumped towards the floor with a napkin and finally caught the bug. At this point, we should have left. After a moment, the manager offered us another table, and we agreed. (I didn't know that the sickening feeling in my stomach would endure until the end of the night.) I can't really review the food this visit because I just ate as quickly as I could to leave while constantly checking the floor and wall around me. Our server was very friendly, and the manager came by a couple more times to check on us but never offered any sort of compensation for our experience that night. After I returned home to Knoxville, I left a post on their Facebook page hoping to get some sort of response about my experience. I didn't blast them or anything; I just wanted to get some sort of response. They responded by deleting my post and not contacting me. Sadly (but maybe fortunately), my business is done with the Sea Captain's House. I hope they get their pest problem under control, but from now on, they will just be the place that had a bug problem and has poor management.

FIVE STARS!!! This is the best seafood resturant in Myrtle Beach. I had both lunch and dinner. The dinner menu is priced higher as most places are. If there is somehthing you want and it is not on the menu, ask, they can take care of it for you! Quality of the food was excellent! Price was worth it! The service of the waitress was poor, but there are very few good to great waitress'. Still highly recommended!

Fabulous Food and Location
By ,
Just returned from Myrtle Beach - 10 fabulous days of weather and my husband discovered this restaurant while out walking one morning. Later that day we decided to have lunch there - the food was great. I had decided to have something a little different so I tried the Shrimp and Pasta Marinara. Well needless to say that once it arrive everyone with me decided it looked delicious and had to taste it. They were all sorry they had not gotten the item. Beautiful location - the only thing which did happen was the waitress forget to ask us for our order for drinks and we had to ask her if we could order something. Of course she apologized - otherwise I would rate this as one of the best places I have eaten at and I have been to MB several times. Try it out - I am sure you will like it. A guest from Lexington, KY
