We had a couple of dishs between my wife and I. the soup was dismal, poorly spiced, bad texture,no balance of flavor. Way too much nutmeg in the she crab. The main course was a pile of goo on a plate. I have had better at Shoney's!
Oscar's is a great restaurant. i have had events catered, Mary, the catering director is the best. Helps you with everything you could possibly need. The staff is always friendly. If you are in a rush, you can get a quick lunch or you can have a nice long stay. The lunch buffet has some of the best Mac n cheese!!! Dinner is always great (of course). My only complaint is that in my recent visits, the manager, Jim, is extremely rude. Almost seems as if he doesnt have time for his customers, or his employees. Just make sure you see a different manager!! and a note on special occasions, it's a divine menu. specially created by the executive chef every time, the best of the best! make reservations early!!
We arrived at Oscar's just 20 minutes before closing on a Monday night. The parking lot was empty, but we went in anyway. Our party of four recieved a cordial welcome and were escorted to a nice booth, whereupon we recieved excellent service followed by exquisite food.
I am a vegetarian, and they prepared an off-menu entree which was delightful. All the other dishes were likewise well prepared and carefully presented.
Two hours later, never feeling rushed, we departed, each of us vowing to return again.
If you are looking for a fine dining experience, I recommend this fine establishment wholeheartedlly.
Who doesn't love Oscar's? Wonderful food, wonderful ambiance (unless you're on the covered patio--you should probably specify you don't wish to be seated on the patio), outstanding service. This is THE restaurant my wife and I go to for anniversaries, birthdays, and special occasions. My favorite is the Steak Oscar, but their pork loin is probably the best-tasting thing on the menu. I also highly recommend the crab cakes appetizer and the banana dessert (the name slips my mind).
One warning: if you go there for Valentine's Day, they offer a reduced menu that is missing several of their best dishes...and make reservations a few weeks ahead of time. If you don't, you risk not even being seated.
We visited Summerville and were referred to Oscars. Thank you, thank you!
They have an amazingly friendly and helpful wait staff. The prices are reasonable and the food is spectacular. The best shrimp and grits I've ever had and desserts to die for. If you're in the neighborhood and want a great dinner, do yourself a favor and visit Oscars!
