Old Village Post House
The Old Village Post House is a neighborhood tavern and inn nestled in Mount Pleasant's historic Old Village. In feel and decor, it's as comfortable as your best friend's home - from the original worn pine floors to our lively tavern. We delight in the quality of our producers and devote ourselves to skillful preparation that brings joy to both maker and guest. We believe the tastiest fare is even better with noteworthy wines and cocktails. And, we believe in only the warmest hospitality, whether you're joining us for an event, a cocktail, brunch, dinner or an overnight stay.
We went for a quiet evening and a nice meal.... What we received was far from what we expected. The cuisine was phenomenal, by far the best meal I have ever had. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The service was impeccable. The waiter was highly knowledgeable of the wine, ingredients and made amazing suggestions. The atmosphere was intimate, calming, and comfortable. I can't wait to go back and try a new dish, although it will be hard to stray from my first amazing choice. We would highly recommend this restaurant ... no, this experience to anyone and everyone. Enjoy your life and dine at the Old Village Post House.
Best restaurant I visited in Charleston. The only problem, I had a hard time finding it. Once I did, the food was wonderful. The pork tenderloin is the best I have had in my life! The waiter was very knowledgeable, friendly, and provided exceptional service. The feel of the restaurant was romantic and cozy. I will defnitely return. I only wish that I had went more than once while vacationing.
My husband and I live right here in North Charleston, which is about 15-20 minutes from Mt. Pleasant. In fact, my husband works for the Town of Mt. Pleasant. He wanted an overnight stay in a B&B for his b-day, so I booked the Old Village Post House.
Let me relay the good points:
Great location - near downtown and beaches
Room was clean
Breakfast was great
Restaurant is Fabulous
Now let me relay some small complaints:
We stayed in one of the smaller rooms right above the restaurant - don't make the same mistake. They really need to change the mattresses in those rooms. Let's just say I've had a better night's sleep elsewhere. I almost wanted to get up in the middle of the night and drive back to my own bed in North Charleston.
I recommend you booking a room on the third floor away from the hustle and bustle of the restaurant.
Would I stay here again? Maybe...but you'll be guaranteed that I'll be asking them when the last time was they put in new mattresses and I will be staying on the third floor above the noise.

The Old Village Post House Restaurant was an incredible experience. We were there our first time for Valentine's Day Dinner. Our wait person was exceptionally nice, personable, knowledgeable, and professional. The food was outstanding. The pate was one of the bests that I have ever tried. The setting was beautiful and romantic. It was everything that everyone has told me. We will definitely come back.
