Basil Restaurant, Charleston

Met with a good friend here recently and ordered my favorite Pad Thai, as usual the staff are very friendly and couteous, we were well attended too the whole time, the food came very nice and quick. I only have nice thing to say about this restaurant I must say one of my favorite dine in places here in Downtown Charleston, SC. Can't wait for my next visit!

Basil is the best! The vegetables are so fresh. I always feel that I am eating something really good for me as there is not a lot of grease or oil as you often see in many Asian meals. No reservations but you can go next door and have a drink and they will call you when your table is ready. This is truly the best Thai around!

Best Thai in town. In many towns for that matter. Always worth the wait.

Absolutely love the Pad Thai here- I dreamed about it when I was pregnant! I will go out of my way to get here whenever we are in town. Worth the wait!

Basil's food is consistently great. The soups, basil rolls, pad thai, pad kee mow and all other entrees are delicioius. At times, you can feel like you're being pushed out because they want to turn over the tables. Also, if you go under a reservation with a large party, they will not seat you until every single person is present, so be prepared for that. They are very inflexible on that.

Basil's is a great Thai restuarant. I only got there once. No reseverations but worth the wait. The place has a hip feel to it and you can watch you food being made in the glass kitchen . I had the Basil duck mid rare,-awesome! The wine list was reasonably priced with a lot of choices. Chef Suntron is a nice guy (like all the Chef's in Chuck town) and I got to talked to him for about 20 min after dinner service was over. This place is worth it!

Just finished eating a take out meal from Basil and it was an outstanding experience! Had Tom Aban Talay soup (mixed seafood hot & sour) and red curry chicken...both were hot, spicy, and excellent flavors. Can't say enough. If you are a business person in town and like Thai food...this is as good as you will find anywhere. Although I did not stay, the scene inside was very lively and energetic. Great place!

Basil has smaller portions but very rich in flavor. The soups are excellent and the service is very good. They gave your your space but were always there when you needed them. One of the finest thai restaurants in town.

Excellent thai food in small locale so plan accordingly. "Open kitchen" (glass divide) but you can still see the cooks at work. great curries, beef larb was excellent, entree courses beef/chix/tofu basil and other options have all proven very tasty. Like everyone else said best thai food in chucktown.

Basil's is the best Thai place in town. The food is always great every time we go. The service is awesome. Sometimes it gets busy so be prepared! The coconut ice cream and chicken basil is also very good!
