An inexpensive American-style cafe open for lunch and dinner, it features a full bar, spicy hot toddies, and live evening entertainment. The unpretentious store front hides a gem of a dining establishment by the Old City Market. It's a great place to relax with specialty coffees and some of Charleston's most delectable desserts such as Tollhouse Cookie Pie or Turtle Cheesecake. A huge slice of the Heath Bar Cake is plenty for two people. Popular with the late-night crowd when it gets really busy, this is a must for both locals and visitors exploring the city. - Natasha Lawrence
My husband and I have been to Charleston several times. We always stop at Kaminsky's for a super great dessert. The pastry chef, Christina is such a personable person and a great sense of humor. Her desserts are just fabulous
With a fresh variety of desserts to choose from every time, you can go to Kaminsky's over and over again and never have the same dessert twice. If they have creme brulee, I suggest ordering that -- it's out of this world! The various drinks (coffees and dessert martinis) are also most excellent!
Check out Kaminsky's for a nice selection of desserts. They have everything from milkshakes to pies and cakes. Check out the glass case upon entering for a view of the variety of that days pies and cakes. Also a nice selection of coffees and hot cocoa and a dark place with a coffee house type ambience. In the summertime the lines can get quite long for dessert in the evenings. It is next to TBonz restaurant where you can also get Kaminsky desserts after dinner.
Don t waste your time. I travel to Charleston several times a year. I used to enjoy getting dessert there, but no longer. The past several times the service was terrible. The last time the cake was so dried out -- it had to be sitting in the dessert case for several days. Tonight I walked out. We were seated for quite some time and the server never came to the table. When we walked out, I said something to the manager and he said that was the best they could do because they only had one server working. SO, unless you want to have bad service and get some mediocre desserts, don t waste your time. There are tooo many other wonderful places to eat in Charleston!
Kaminsky's is an excellent first date place or a place to take your parents for dessert. The environment is very casual and a bit loud but the service is excellent and the environment is very hip. They have a great selection of drinks from teas, to mochas to martinis. I recommend this for a fun couple of hours of drinking and chatting.
Kaminsky's is a wonderful hang out spot and a wonderful place for dessert! The coffee is not great, but the desserts are very, very good. My only real beef with Kaminsky's is that each and every time I am there, they are out of peanut butter pie. More peanut butter pie could more than make up for the lack of great coffee.
The desserts are fantastic, and they make a great chocolate martini. It can be a bit on the pricey side, but the location and the reputation balance that out. Service can be a little sketchy sometimes, and the seating is very limited. Nonetheless, a must-visit location for a trip to Charleston. This is where I take all my friends when they come to visit the city.
The best place in Charleston for desserts!!! Their cakes, sundaes, drinks, and coffees are all awesome! My fiance' and I go quite often for the hot fudge brownie sundae... It's more than enough for two, and its only $5. You can't beat that anywhere. The fudge is hot, the brownie is hot, rich, and moist. Also, my older sis first introduced me to Kaminsky's in 2001 and my sis, her friend and I ordered a slice of cake each. First of all the I ordered the Mountain of Chocolate cake....its was way too big for one person to eat. I couldn't even eat half and I still paid about $5. The prices are unbelievable, and the desserts are awesome!
