I went to the Boathouse after seeing the great reviews that are on here. I absolutely agree with them in that this restaurant was wonderful. The seafood was very fresh! I tried the featured wine of the day and absolutely hated it. The waitress kindly replaced the wine with another one. I appreciated her attentiveness to what we needed.
Some people were very dressed up but we still felt comfortable in a sundress and flip flops. I made reservations on their website and I had no problems.
We had our one year anniversary dinner at the Boathouse on East Bay after being recommended by the chef we met as part of the Sustainable Seafood campaign at the SC Aquarium. The food was outstanding, they brought us a perfectly matched bottle of wine to go with dinner, and the desserts were worth it! My wife and I were very satisfied and are looking forward to an excuse to go back. I would rate it 4.5 stars.
The food was excellent, and service was great. Loved how the place was decorated and how they used an old building to bring an evening to life. My father-in-law;orginally from Illinois loved the seafood and the collards! My husband had his best meal here.
SO SO place to eat
Busy place Why ? No idea. The best thing I ate there was the Volcano sushi MMM.
The food from the menu was not that great. The portions are tiny. The ambiance the music was loud so they are missing what this place should be like softer music and better service. Our waiter seemed rushed and was rushing us also.
We were disappointed because when you spend lots of money into a dinner you should walk out with a smile we didn't. Well
they hurt themselves word a mouth publicity will kill them in the end!!!!!!!
Where else can you eat sushi as an appetizer and finish the meal off with wonderful Creme Brulee?
My favorite sushi would have hot fried shrimp and cream cheese, or Eel (it's not as scary as it sounds!).
Creme Brulee is decadent cold custard with a crunchy caramel top that forms with a blow torch!
The Boathouse is a must-see when you are in Charleston! Don't miss it.
My wife and I go to Charleston quite often and love to go to the Boathouse. The food is great and we enjoy the ambiance very much. The Boathouse is just a great place to go. The crab cakes are great and everything we have gotten there has been great. Their blue cheese slaw is very good also.
Classy resturaunt but welcoming. The food was wonderful--exactly what we wanted in a Charleston establishment! Valet parking, and reservations are suggested, but the wait was not terrible without them.
This is the second time that I have gone to the Boathouse. The waiter took the order, the order came out with the wrong side orders. Not a problem but both my dinner and my dates dinner the sides were cold (potatoes and grits). The waiter was too busy taking orders so the person filling the water glasses took the food to be reheated. My date had crab cakes and they were cold.I went ahead and ate my meal while she was waiting for hers to be recooked.By then we both were very disgusted with the meal so we paid and left. Please do not waste your money at this restaurant. There are many more places in Charleston.Barry
