This place has really gone downhill. It used to be one of our favorite Charleston restaurants, but our last visit, with guests, was mediocre, at best. Our waiter had all the personality of a cardboard cut-out of Ed Sullivan. When we asked for some information on a California claret he told us he wasnât much of a red wine drinker, but knew it was a blend of red wines. My wife and I always split salads, as do our guests, and had done so two previous nights at SNOB and Cypress with no problem. Here at 82 Queen, however, they notified us there was a $3 charge to split salads. The amount doesnât bother me as much as the cheesy attitude of a supposedly upscale restaurant to charge for splitting a damn salad. My meal was billed as a shrimp and crawfish etouffee, but the only crawfish was one whole-bodied mud bug tossed on top of the dish. The shrimp were overcooked and the etouffee itself was pretty tasteless. I had to ask for Tobasco to add some taste to it. This place is off our list altogether.
