We visited the restaurant on State Street and I must say, we were definitely not pleased with this restaurant. We visited on a Friday night and to our surprise the restaurant was barely occupied with the exception of the staff walking over each other. This should have been our first hint to leave. When we arrived at our table to our surprise, the restaurant no longer prepares the food at the table. We contemplated leaving to visit another Japanese Steak House but decided it was worth giving a chance since we never visted this restaurant. We definitly should have left. My entire party ordered Hibachi entrees and were pleasantly disappointed. The food was scarce in quantity, the shrimps were NOT FRESH and over salted, scallops were rubbery, the rice was hard and dry and the vegatable were overcooked (or maybe they were sitting for a long period before being served). It was obvious this food was prepared hours before our arrival as it was barely warm. We thought for the $$$ of the food, we could find a decent meal; boy were we wrong. We have vowed never to visit this place again. I can only complement the servers as they did an outstanding job.
My wife and I have been to the new Wasabi in Summerville twice. It has good and bad points...
+ sushi was quite delicious and I thought the portions were good-sized.
+ their hibachi filet mignon was some of the best steak I've ever had. It was awesome.
+ It's very slow. Prepare to spend at least 2, maybe 2.5 hours there--even if you're seated as soon as you walk through the door.
+ Service was terrible. The first time we went I attributed it to inexperience because the restaurant was brand new. The second time there was no excuse.
+ The hibachi chefs are very hit and miss. One guy in there puts on quite a show--several others seem very bored and just go through the motions.
+ They put bacon in the fried rice--I guess to be unique--but I don't like it at all.
I'm glad we finally have hibachi Japanese in Summerville, but to be honest I'm waiting for the other, currently under-construction Japanese place (at Berlin Myers and 78) to open.
By far the best Halloween party ever. My friends and
I went there for dinner before the party starts. The
food was excellence and service was outstanding. Since we all dressed up Tommy (general manager of Wasabi) bought us a round of sake. We ended up stay there the whole entire night. Its always good time at Wasabi rather its dinner or after hours. They really do an excellence job.
I am from summerville and I heard they are opening up a new Wasabi in summerville so i decided to give the downtown location a try. I am very impress with the level of service and quality of the food. I cant wait for the summerville location to open up!
All I can say is WOW! This is prolly the best sushi bar i have ever visited. I am from New York and moved here a year and a half ago with my wife. The sushi at wasabi is just as good if not better then any other places i have ever visted in New York. The fish are fresh and the decorations are amazing. it looks like its from a magazine. The service is outstanding as well. I will never forget my server Eden. She was there everytime i needed something without failed. This will be the sushi bar for my family from now on.
My fiance and I have been here three time and we absolutely love it. The sushi is good and the entree's are great as well. You might want to consider getting a reservation on a friday or saturday night because the last two times we went we had to sit at the sushi bar; which was a little crowded.
