Aw Shucks, Charleston

Love the atmosphere. Some really neat paintings were on the wall and good service. The food was extremely expensive for the quantity. Now the quality of the food was excellent. I had I low country broil that was seasoned well, cost $22, and did not have a lot of food. My wife had 4 stuffed shrimp and 1 crab cake that was excellent, and she got two sides, cost $21 so her was about right. All and all a good place to eat.

This restaurant is okay. We were not impressed, this was our second time here. The first time was several years ago. The food is okay, much better seafood is available in Charleston. Also, the servings were very small. I am pretty conscious about proper servings and usually look forward to boxing up food to go, but servings were so small here I had no left overs. The service was pretty good, but we had a problem with redeeming an online coupon and management was not helpful. I will say the problem was due to no fault but our own, however my husband has worked in the restaurant business and it could have been handled much differently. It really is just a matter sometimes of going the extra mile for the customer because after all we are the ones that pay your check. I must say we did not make a fuss, but just know we probably will not go back. Beware and Read the fine print on any discount coupons you take as they are very strict on the redemption....

Went there last year twice with family a week apart. Each time had six people, the second time I discovered that they add in 15% tip for parties six or more. Not knowing this the first time I tipped our waiter another 20% because we were with our young grandchildren and things became very hectic when getting ready to leave. Thus the check was not scrutinized. I spoke to the female manager who did not seem to care except saying it is printed in the menu. I wrote a letter to the owner who disregarded it and I also called on two occasions and did not get any satisfaction so I am venting, The food there is ok but we will never go back again. Be careful if you do! Oh, I forgot the second time the waitress wrote a big thank you over the area on the check that showed the service charge amount had been added making it very difficult to read. I am sure this was only by accident and not intentional!!

very nice, sat on the porch with our dog. They even brought her a bowl of iced water. Good solid menu.

The good thing about AW Shucks is that, for downtown, the prices are great. Great service and variety of food.

The food was great. I really thought they had my aunt in the back cooking the red rice.

Great place to take a special person who enjoys a great environment right off the market, and great sea food! The raw bar gets 5 stars alone....Thanks Ivan and Anthony you guys are off the chain.

They have OK seafood, nothing to write home about here but you are getting what you pay for so you don't leave thinking you just got robbed.

This is a MUST!! If you are a fan of fine dining and fresh seafood, this is the place!!!
