A great place to take the family or alone...They have a great Botanical Garden..They also have a petting zoo. Personal Suggestion-There are a lot of great area restaurants so dont eat at the zoo. The price for a cheeseburger @ Burger King in the Zoo is 3.00.

Beautiful Zoo

A great place. I think it is worth being a member. I love the fact that it is right there by the river. It is beautiful.

Great Zoo!
By ,
I decided to check out the zoo after living here in SC for 18 months. Admission was not too bad ($9 for military, $11 otherwise) The botanical gardens were beautiful. There is a tram to take you from the gardens into the zoo area. I recommend the tram for anyone with a stroller, because you have to go down a large hill to get into the zoo area. Lots of cool displays, a petting zoo, and a great aquarium with penguins. A cool gift shop too. My only other advice would be, skip the 3-d theater! It was $3.50 per person and the movies were only 15 minutes, and not really that great either.

First Thursdays
By ,
If you haven't gone to the Zoo's First Thursdays events, you really should check it out. Live music in the Botanical Gardens with benches and swings and some of the most beautiful flowers around. You can bring chairs or a blanket and yes, they serve beer and wine. :) Oh....and it's only $4!!! Can't beat it!!

Amazing
By ,
This has to be the best zoo I have ever visited. It seemed easier to get around and not as tiring as visiting the N.C. Zoo. I was especially struck by the tropical fish display, could have sat there forever watching the fish swimming and playing! Thought that was great, but then when I saw the Botanical gardens! Wow! Awesome beauty...take your camera if you are a nature lover.

A wonderful zoo as zoos go
By ,
It was a great zoo, with great sounds and themes and scenery (not to mention the animals). There are several places to feed animals, such as giraffes and even birds, and it is overall just a great place. There are only a couple things I was not fond of (which is common everywhere): the prices for food and 'extras', and the evolutionary background and teaching.

A Great Place For Everyone
By ,
It's a zoo your right, but it is a great place for everyone.Kids can learn about animals of all kinds, and spend time with thei parents.Teenagers can take their sweetharts there and have a nice walk and talk and really get to know the other one.Even the most athletic person can go there and get a good work out while looking at the animals and plants. I would recommend this place to anyone who was wanting to have a good time outside.
