Tupelo Honey Cafe

Description

This cafe in downtown Asheville serves Southern fare prepared with the freshest local produce and an experimental twist. It is tough not to overeat when you are faced with a variety of delicacies. Enjoy the appetizers and entreesthe grit cakes, fried green tomatoes, pan cakes, nutty fried chicken and Smoked Jalapeno Ribeye compete for your attention. Try the soups and a tomato or chicken sandwich or a beef burger. Give in to temptation as you opt for a banana pudding, brownie sundae or Tupelo Honey Frozen Custard. If you are not sated yet, try a root beer or a healthier option like tea, fruit juice, or lemonade. Unfortunately, the establishment does not accommodate parties of more than seven or accept personal checks for groups of more than five people, so plan any social outing accordingly.

We have always loved the downtown Tupelo Honey location but, found it hard to get the whole family or a group of our co-workers together there. We just visited their new south location for breakfast and it was perfect. They had several large groups there was still no wait! Same great menu and service but a much bigger space. We will be back with our family over the summer to take advantage of the seating availability and of course the sweet potato pancakes.;)

Great food! They use fresh ingredients and the food is very flavorful. Prices are reasonable and the service is fun - ask for Avery!

Unbelievable. Tupelo Honey Cafe has to be one of the best eateries in Asheville. A great variety of simple southern cuisine with a twist. This combined with a great selection of local beers and a great location make this place a top pick.

one of my favorite Asheville dining experiences!! What an atmosphere!!! I would swear that time stops when you are there... the experience is just so beautiful. Every dish I have had there was perfection, the wait staff knowledgeable and curtious, and the ambiance is to die for. Every time i come home to visit, I have to make it to Tupelo Honey's!!

Great food and place. Located in the heart of downtown Asheville, this place has lots of different good foods to offer. Nice place, surrounded by clubs in Asheville and right across the street from Pritchard Park.

Awesome breakfast
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/18/08
We went here for breakfast when visiting Asheville and we loved it! The ingredients were fresh and the sweet potato pancakes were to die for. We went during the week and it wasn't that crowded. It is in the downtown area with lots to check out nearby.

Good - but always Busy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/24/08
I love Tupelo Honey, but we always have to wait (sometimes over an hour) any time we go there. I guess that's the sign of a great restaurant, but I wish they had more room so the wait wouldn't be as long. I definitely recommend this restaurant to my out-of-town friends as a first taste of downtown Asheville. YUM!

Good Food

Kid friendly, good food good atmosphere. The kids love to go to Tupelo Honey because they cover the tables in white papers and give the kids crayons and they can color on the table. The kids love it. I love the veggie fare.

Breakfast and So Much More
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/6/08
I'd go to Tupelo Honey Cafe more if I could park closer to the front door, but don't let that deter you. This menu is so unique and fabulous, it is worth the walk. Fried green tomatoes and fried grits are included on the fare (i think even a fried pickle). The sandwiches are unique and packed with yummy cheeses and such. Breakfast is equally as fine, with good biscuits (great for the honey) and great coffee. I also like that there's a PBJ for your kids to eat while you dine on more sophisticated fare.

Shrimp and Grits
Never had them until I moved back to Asheville. You want them, Tupelo's got them.
