I had a HORRIBLE experience here. After a long week of work I went out to dinner. After an hour and a half of waiting, we finally asked about our slices. They apologized, and I understand things happen. I have worked in the Food Industry. The CO-OWNER (Peter) brought our slices to us. They were burnt on the bottom and the toppings had just been thrown on and not cooked with the pizza. Peter saw my unhappy face and asked Are you okay and I replied Well, we have been waiting a long time and.... He then cut me off and threw his arm in the air and yelled WELL! TAKE A LOOK AROUND, WE ARE BUSY, HELLOOO? I was shocked, and very upset someone would speak to me that way. I am a paying regular customer. I was so upset and embarassed of his outburst, yelling at me in front of other customers that I asked for our money back. He was making a face towards me. Almost like So what? what are you going to do about it? Very childish. I will never eat here again, and I will make sure my friends don t either. I know it s great pizza but seriously, why would you want to support a place that potentially treats their customers that way when they are feeling stressed? One of the employees actually came up to me and apologized again and he said I am so sorry, he talks to us all that way I WILL NOT SUPPORT A PLACE THAT TREATS THEIR EMPLOYEES LIKE DIRT! I have NEVER in my life been treated that way at a restaurant. WOW! That is all! MARCO s is WAAAY BETTER!!!!!
having enjoyed pizza in NYC, i was able to tell Circle in the Square's pizza was quite authentic to how new york pizza is supposed to be. therefore, i regret that i must give this business a one star (awful) rating instead of an excellent rating just because of one major flaw that could easily be corrected. this flaw being the fact that this establishment has been out of my favorite topping (which is italian sausage) THREE TIMES IN A ROW! once when this happened a man (the owner i surmised) explained that they were out of sausage because they only get 1 delivery a week. the other 2 times this happened a woman (the owner's wife i surmised) who told me they were out was downright rude about it. she acted as if this was no big deal and that i was causing her a great deal of trouble just by asking for italian sausage. i could understand if this were some sort of specialty topping such as rattlesnake, crocodile, or even rocky mountain oysters but i have never heard of a so-called new york pizzeria being out of an essential topping such as italian sausage. i once worked at such a pizzeria here in asheville and i never once heard of us being out of italian sausage (or any other topping for that matter) in the 7 1/2 years i worked there. 'Circle in the Square Pizza' had better realize that there are of plenty of other new york pizzerias in this city (one of which is in walking distance) who are not only NEVER chronically out of toppings but provide much more courteous service as well. i strongly encourage this establishment to take better control of their inventory so they do not run out of toppings on such a regular basis (they were even out of green bell peppers the other day for god sakes!). i plan to soon give 'Circle in the Square Pizza' one more chance in hopes that they will heed this advice. if they once again tell me they are out of italian sausage, i will send a similar review to the mtn. xpress, asheville citizen-times, and even the new york times. and, in the meantime, i'd go across the street to get some chicken mcnuggets and a hot fudge sundae. this would be a far more satisfying meal than a slice of pizza without my favorite topping.
I'm from New York, so I was raised by a family full of people who are extremely picky about pizza. Circle in the Square gets a thumbs up from all of us! Boar's Head cold cuts..and the best pizza in town!
DON'T GIVE THIS PLACE THE TIME OF DAY!..Extremely rude and just as slow..their pizza is good but so are half a dozen other pizza places within a two mile radius..it's unfortunate these guys make money in spite of themselves..but keep spreading the word and we'll see if we can't change that!..To his credit, one kid did apologize for the others but these guys need to get a serious clue as to how to treat customers..as for me and my party of 5 others..(plus two more people who walked out the day I was there)..I'll be eating elsewhere!
