Vincenzo's Asheville

Description

Vincenzo's Ristorante & Bistro is Asheville's premier Northern Italian/Continental restaurant. Established in 1990, Vincenzo's has become an institution in Asheville's downtown restaurant scene. Vincenzo's has won numerous awards for food and service over the years, while maintaining and honoring time tested recipes of Old Italy. While it is difficult to claim authenticity in the United State due to the impossibility of procuring the same products used in Italy, Vincenzo's succeeds at being a genuine Italian restaurant experience. Our wine list is extensive and representative of the depth, breath and character of one of the great wine cultures in the world, Italy. While our main dining room is white table cloth our Bistro is California casual in style and offers live music seven nights a week. The Bistro is one of Asheville's favorite local hangouts offering our same great food in a deliberately more casual atmosphere. Come build some wonderful memories with us soon!!

I'm writting this review with severe disappointment. My husband and I placed an order to be picked up on September 13th 2011. The experience with your restaurant was well below expectations. I only thought it be fair to give your establishment an opportunity to learn from our experience. My husband and I took great pains to coordinate a “date night” using your meal as our high light of the evening. I was elated when my family received a fifty dollar gift certificate to your establishment from close friends. We were anticipating this meal since we had not had the pleasure of eating with you before. Having heard excellent reviews from others in the past, we were anxious to join the dining experience as well. I was thrilled when I called before operating hours to find your staff being so accommodating. I then placed pick-up order to be ready for me at 5:15pm. After perusing the menu for what seemed like hours, we settled on the 10oz rib eye (which is no longer available) for my husband and Pesce Napoli for myself. This meant so much to me, having to juggle getting off work a tad early, driving in the opposite direction of down town to pick up my son before his daycare closed. And most difficult maneuver of all was having my husband try to be home to enjoy a warm meal. He works at Park Ridge Hospital and rarely is home before 7pm. So, as anyone can imagine, this was what we hoped to be a real treat for us. As I had anticipated, timing is always extremely difficult for us to orchestrate. Excitedly, I report, all my planning worked out wonderfully! I enjoyed the banter between your servers and myself. They were wonderfully pleasant. Unfortunately, this was the end to my happy story… I arrived home, to find my husband, on time and hungry, we then sat down to what we thought to be, a “gourmet meal”. As we transferred our meals to china, the Pesce Napoli (full size) filled a salad plate. I could have compared this to the appetizer size at the Carrabba’s. The taste I would call mediocre at very best. The New York strip sadly didn’t even compare to mediocre. $23.95 for a poor cut of meat and a less than a hand full of French fries? I hope the 5 small end cuts of side bread were not intended in wooing this meal over in any way. I do understand mistakes happen and have experienced poor quality food in the past. With that said I have never taken the time to either send back my meal and definitely not taken the time to write an email or review in voicing my disgust.

I went there for dinner tonight what a great experience. The service was excellent and the food was among the best Italian I have had. I even got to meet the owner and the evening entertainer came by and introduced himself. The house chianti was good and I would definitely go there again.

Went after work to enjoy the 1/2 price appetizers in the Bistro that they have from 5 to 6:30 every day. A salad and an appetizer... that is my meal! Like to unwind before going home there because of the atmosphere and bartnders. I will sometimes stay and enjoy the live music they have everyday. Feels nice to hear a local artist... very friendly and as a single woman, feels safe and is enjoyable before going home to my dogs.

The restaurant wasn't busy at all the night we were there so I wondered if this was the place to eat. As usual we all hadn't a clue of what we were hungry for, one of us especially hard to please but our waiter Matt D was wonderful! He turned our dining experience into a enjoyable evening. The food was very good also and reasonable.

Long wait for awful food! We waited over an hour for our entrees. My chicken saltimbocca was flavorless (I even asked the waiter if it was missing something). My husband's meal must have sat under a heat lamp for a while because the mashed potatoes had a film on them. His was way to salty. We started with average brushetta and ended with average chocolate cake. I would not recommend with so many good restaurants in Asheville

Bartenders are without personality. Musicians phone in their performances. Really a shame, as most are talented, perhaps bored? Semi-pretentious atmosphere. The food is consistent - a bit heavy on some dishes. All in all, it is a place where everyone takes themselves too seriously.

The best Italian in town. The Piano Bar downstairs after hours is fabulous.

Beautiful Restaurant with exceptional food
By Jor, 12/25/06
While visiting Asheville for the first time, we asked our hotel staff for a suggestion on a great Italian restaurant. They suggested Vincenzo's, which turned out to be an excellent choice. Located in downtown, the downstairs is a piano bar, with live entertainment while the upstairs is a beautiful dining room. The food was incredible, though moderately expensive...entrees range from $14 to $28. The owner, Dwight, made the rounds through the restaurant, checking on each table, and was very pleasant. Unfortunately our waiter was a bit snobbish. If you want to dress up nicely for a dinner date, this is the place to break out the suit and tie.

Excellent Italian Restaurant
By brenaugrl, 7/26/05
I only go to Da Vincenzo Ristorante only about once or twice a year, but each time I go I always have an excellent meal. I am a seafood/pasta lover, so I always jump for something with shrimp cooked over pasta. Just be careful, because when it says spicy they mean spicy. The ambiance is excellent. Downstairs there is a bar, where you can dress down, but upstairs is an elegant room that looks like it is from the Victorian era (or so I think). The dim light adds even more romance to the restaurant. The service is excellent, and the value of the food is, well although it is a little expensive, it is definitely worth it! If you are looking for a romantic restaurant to eat at, Da Vincenzo Ristorante is definitely the place that you need to go! Believe me, the girl will love it!
