Our party of 4 stayed at the Fryemont Inn in Cottage Suite #3 on June 18th and could not have been more pleased. The Cottage was gorgeous, much more modern than the rooms in the Inn but still had plenty of charm. The front porch has a breathtaking view of the mountains and the town of Bryson City. Every staff member that we encountered was very friendly, helpful and professional. Touring the Inn itself was very educational with lots of historic pictures, etc. along the hallways. Nice little gift shop. The pool was gorgeous but unfortunately it was too cold for us to try it out (65 degrees in June!!). We all agreed that the best feature by far was the FOOD. Dinner was wonderful from the melt in your mouth yeast rolls to the homemade soup, salad, main course all the way to the desserts. We were so full we could hardly make it back to the cottage....and to think it was all included in the price of the room! Breakfast was equally delicious and we never had to wait for a table. I highly recommend this Inn and I look forward to going back soon. Thank you Fryemont Inn for a wonderful weekend.

A step back in time...
By LaurieW, 4/6/09
My Husband and I have stayed at the Inn several times and are heading back this May for a full week. That is it self should tell you the story..... The staff is always overly friendly and willing to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are very clean and bring you back in time when there was not a TV in every room of the house, or a phone or any electronic equipment that now a days steals every precious moment of family time away. It is a great place to reconnect with your loved ones. The meals (both Breakfast and Dinner) are fabulous! We have never had a bad meal there yet and if you never leave the dining room hungry. The location is perfect, as it is in the middle of so much....you could head in any direction and find lots of outdoor activities as well as things to do inside. Shopping, rafting, horseback riding, hiking, gem mining and more.....

Our Little Hiding Spot.
By Diane, 11/9/08
My husband and I found this gem on then internet but had seen the sign for it on previous visits to Bryson City. We have been 3 times for our anniversary and just love it. We love the fact that there are not any TV's in the rooms or telephones. The staff hve always been very nice and personable to us. The inclusion of 2 meals a day and the food is very comparable to a highend resturant. The service is fabulous at mealtime. We enjoyed the large porch and large living room for the socialization that it encourages among the guests.

Olde Worlde Charm
By Andrew, 10/2/08
We travelled to the Great Smokies from the UK, and one thing I did not expect to find was the sort of olde-worlde charm that we experienced at the Fryemont Inn. We happened on the Inn by chance and chose to spend one night there; we were glad we did. It might not be to everyone's taste (quaint, no TVs in rooms, no stunning views) but it completely made up for this in general ambience, staff friendliness, excellent food with European-sized portions (i.e. sensibly-sized, not ridiculously large), and wonderful log fires. Our king-sized room, with evening meal and breakfast included, was in total only US$138 + tax for two persons; excellent value. A good find and one that we would return to if ever in the area again. Note: the Inn closes after Thanksgiving and does not reopen until April of the following year.

A Step Back In Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/4/08
We stayed at the Fryemont Inn in November, 2007. We took our entire extended family of three generations for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful. The food was great, the place is old (built in the 20's I think) but very cool, and each generation loved it. There are no TV's in the rooms and we thought the kids might not be happy, but we played skittles and board games in front of the big lobby fireplace every evening and they had a blast. The staff was warm and friendly and even helped my 87 year old Mom to bed after the rest of us had retired! There is a lot to do in the area. We didn't raft, but we did ride the train and that was fun. We also walked at Deep Creek, which is in the Great Smokies Park and just about 5 minutes from the Inn. 2 waterfalls and an easy walk. We will definitely go back.

Horrible attitude!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/12/06
The front desk clerk here was the rudest we have ever encountered. When we asked to see the owners and explained how we felt, we were told too bad. I find it unfortunate that the owners believe it would simply cost more to extend an apology for the attitude we received. I would never visit here again!

Please don't go here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/05
I hesitated before doing this review, as popularity may interfere with our next visit. We've stayed here 5 times at different times of the year as a central meeting place to get together with friends and have never been disappointed. This historic Inn is a great place to spend a week-end or a month. The trees interfere with the views from the rooms, but that's a plus. The rooms are clean and adequate with antique furnishings including some rooms with claw footed tubs.. The chef prepared food alone is worth the trip. The included Friday evening dinner and Saturday breakfast will literally have you waddling out the door. A room and 4 meals for 2 people is the greatest 2 night value we've ever found. The staff will prepare a lunch basket for a nominal fee but you do need to reserve your dinner table before leaving the Inn for your day's activities. You can spend time wandering the grounds, play games or read in the lobby. Bryson City is a stop on the Smokey Mtn RR and has the typical mountain tourist shops, but the area abounds with things to do including Harrah's (20 minutes) if you feel lucky. White water rafting is 25 minutes away, tubing is closer, horseback riding & fishing @ Fontana Reservoir are just some opportunities available for kids from 8 to 80.
