I am not sure where some of these folks were eating but they were not at the same place i was. I am an over the road driver and eat Buffets every day and they all have some kind of dessert bar,not this one. They had no sour cream, The food was terrible to say the least and the salad bar was lettuce and a few dressings and that was about it. The fried chicken was nasty and the roast beef was dry and just nasty. We were directed to the table and then left to our own devises and not even told what the cost of the meal was it is not posted no where and the staff was almost ashamed to talk to you when you ask for things they didn't have like sour creme or desert . Never again and we visit Cherokee at least twice a year.
While riding the roads around North Carolina we stopped in Cherokee and ate at Granny's. The buffet was good and the staff friendly. It was clean and the buffet well stocked. It was a little higher than average on price but it is all you can eat. Their pie was great. The parking lot was Motorcycle friendly and we did feel welcome. Would eat there again if in the neighborhood.
I just want to say to whomever posted about it smelling like an ashtray, the restaurant is a smokefree enviroment. every restaurant in north carolina is smoke free,or supposed to be. so if it smelled like an ashtray it was probably someone whom you were seated near. and secondly granny's doesn't offer menus, which is misleading because your not usually told that unless you ask. but it is a great restaurant if buffet style is what you are in search of. please get facts straight before you post a review. thanks.
When we got inside, it smelled like an ashtray, and it was dirty. We sat down at a table waiting for a while for someone to bring us some menus. She finally came, but she never brought us any menus, or drinks. Not only were we upset with the service, but we could tell that others were disgusted as well. The food looked greasy, and it didn't help that waitresses were yelling at the people who were cooking and goofing off. We could hear them yelling all the way from the other side of the building. Finally, we had had enough of the bad service, and the smelly place. We had waited 10 minutes just for menus. We all decided to leave without eating, and go eat somewhere else. Granny's Kitchen sounds like a cute place where you can get home cooked meals by nice old ladies, but it is just a business that has failed. Hopefully, they can get some real help to turn their problems around.
To the reviewer that gave them 1 star referencing the Indian Taco, Granny's Kitchen does not serve those. They are a buffet restaurant and do not offer this. I don't know exactly where you and your party ate, but it wasn't there. The food is phenomenal and the staff and service are always stellar.
