Positives: You won't leave hungry. It's good. Negatives: It's very over priced. The service is average to poor. They don't take credit cards or debit cards. You feel like you are on an assembly line....rush rush, hurry, we have people waiting..... I always get that tourist trap, sucker feeling. Breakfast is a much better deal than dinner/lunch. And the food is a lot better, closer to home cooked.

Extremely dissappointed! Took family of 14 for Easter Dinner. Had a coupons for Buy 1 for 1595 get one for 4. CAlled ahead and make sure coupons were good on A Holiday. They said yes. When we went to pay was told couldn't use because we made a reservation. NO where on the coupon did it say this! Management was extremely rude and un professional. I have ran a reasturant for 13 years would'nt have treated customers this way. Spent over 230 never going back. JUst eat in Hickory from now on.

This was a unique experience, and worth the visit - but it didn't exactly live up to my expectations. The country-style steak tasted like some sort of processed food product... a good one but certainly not home-made. Ditto for the corn, green beans, and gravy. The fried chicken was the high point of the meal, as well as the ham biscuits. Dessert was good. Our server was pretty bad... I was thirsty and the tea glass was very small - so I was always trying to get his attention for a refill - so that may have tainted my overall opinion of the place. Oh, and stop by the ATM on the way... the trip back in time includes your payment options too!

I like this place, but this food is overpriced for what you get. I enjoy eating breakfast better than lunch. It would be a better experience if the wait staff was faster and more attentive. We wanted more food, but did not get very much when seconds were served. There was not enough for our entire table. The food wasn't seasoned as well as I thought it should have been during lunchtime, but breakfast was very good and tasty. I loved the coffee and juice, plus I got to try red eye gravy, even though I didn't like it. There was also country gravy. The preserves are really good, and I loved the biscuits. I liked the ham biscuits too. Lunch was not memorable, at all. If you really want country food, go to Brandie's Country Cafe, as soon as you get into town. It is across from Lowe's Foods, and it is attached to a gas station. That is real country food, not Daniel Boone Inn!

A Dining Experience
By ,
For those visiting this area, you HAVE to stop and eat here. They have yummy homestyle food but they also have their own unique dining experience. There is no menu that you order from. Everything is brought to the table like it was at granny's house. Every dish was fresh and tasty and the chocolate cake for dessert was to die for!

Dan'l Boone Inn Restaurant

My family and I go to Boone every Fall. When we go, we have to eat dinner at the Dan'l Boone Inn Restaurant. Delicious country cookin' served family style. They bring bowls of food out and place them on your table. You then place the items of your choice on your plate. The choices usually are fried chicken, salisbury steak, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, another vegetable, biscuits and country ham biscuits. You get free refills on everything except the country ham biscuits. Once you're done with your meal, you then have a choice between two desserts. Usually some kind of cobbler (love the blackberry!), strawberry shortcake or chocolate cake. Your meal, dessert and drink are all included in the price. There's always a long line (out the door) of people waiting to get in, so get there as early as you can. It's well worth the wait.

An excellent and fun place to eat!
By ,
My husband and I recently visted Boone and had the pleasure of dinning at the Dan'L Boone Inn Restaurant. Get there early or prepare to wait in a long line. My husband and I went for lunch and didn't mind waiting as I had been there many times before and assumed there would be a long line. The wait staff wear uniforms that portray what the people wore in that time period. The wait staff are extremely friendly and helpful even though they are very busy. There is no menu to order off of. They bring you a salad with ranch dressing (although I am sure if you didn't like ranch it could be substituted),then instead of one plate of food for each patron at your table they bring you plates of each choice of food. When we were there, we were served plates of green beans, excellent fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, country ham biscuits, and cake for dessert. The price was $30-40. Which you may think is expensive but for the amount of food you get,it is an excellent value. The restaurant is a huge white house with a store and is decorated with Daniel Boone memorabilia. I recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

A Living Tradition
By ,
One of the classic restaurants in the high country, with a experience that brings you back to childhood. Nothing creates a better atmosphere then gathering with friends and family, sharing old storys, and eating more home cooked food then your stomach can hold.
