Rucker John's Restaurant, Emerald Isle

My husband and I ate at Rucker John's twice this past week. The food was great. We enjoyed the variety on the menu and the taste of the food.

Long wait to get seated 45 minutes to an hour. Unsure if staff actually kept up with seating order. We had to remind them that we were waiting. Once we were seated, we noticed the floor had food all over it under our booth; our waitress apologized. We asked her if we could have the area cleaned, she agreed to pick up the BIG pieces. As the night progressed and the food arrived, it got slightly better. The food was good and our waitress apologized and brought us additional croissants due to delayed service and food taking too long to come out. I am in no hurry to return to this restaurant on Emerald Isle. This was my first bad experience at a Rucker John franchise.

The food was very good! They have a good size menu with lots of variety. Also, the wait staff was very nice!

Always consistant, always very good food and great service, great bar, friendly people...The islands REAL emerald.

It's getting harder and harder to get in here because the food is good and the prices are within reason. I can see why it's popular but I don't go often anymore because I don't like to wait around for an hour to get a table. Go early and enjoy!

RuckerJohns is my favorite place to eat at the beach. We always sit at the bar as there is no waiting and the service is awesome! The salad, croissant and crab & crackers are to die for as well as the bacon-wrapped grilled shrimp. If you are ever in the Emerald Isle area, stop by and check it out. You won't be disappointed!

The food at Ruckerjohns was very mediocre. I was hoping for so much more, but the sauce on my pasta tasted like it came from a jar. The service was great, but you can get food that tastes the same for a lot less money at the supermarket.

There are several dishes on the menu that are original and wonderful but for the most part it's the same old thing. Fried chicken tenders, steak, seafood. And it can be a little pricey. But hey, if you do go, you will love the croissants. They are fabulous. And try the Jack Daniel's steak. They have a deck that overlooks the canal out back but it faces a bunch of apartments and in the last few years the water in the canal isn't very good. It's fun to feed the turtles though.

My wife will always remember this place. We had been eating shrimp everywhere but her desire was for a good crabcake. Something with lots of real crab and not covered in oil. Well she got her wish and said it was the best crab cakes she has ever eaten. Believe me we've eaten all over the eastern shore of NC. The one downside and I think it was at least that day. They had a huge party come in so it took quite a while to get service. But our waitress was very upset and knew things were not right. So she called the manager over for us. They ended up giving us a meal free even though we hadn't asked for it. But definately one of the better places to eat in the whole area for food quality and taste.
