Something Fishy Seafood Rstrnt, Wilmington

I have no idea what possessed my dining partner and I to eat here. I guess the overflowing parking lot with cars spilled into the grass was a testament to how good the food was. I knew when our food came out of the kitchen within 2 minutes of ordering, we were in trouble. Who knows how long our greasy, golden nuggets sat under the heat lamp. This was the worst meal I have ever eaten, ever. The food actually had a funny taste. The poor vegetables they served were grey and water-logged. Even the tartar sauce was bad. This is incredibly low quality, deep fat fried food, and a shame to serve it to the public for $9 a plate. Save your money and go to Long John Silver's if you must have your fried fish.

Service was extremely friendly. We ordered the Sampler platter and a burger which included a little bit of everything. It took them no time to bring it out. We got the food to go. We are not that picky, but the food tasted awful. Wish it was better.

We have been eating at Something Fishy annually on our visits to the Carolina Beaches...............NEVER had a bad meal. Always hot, fresh and plentiful. Hushpuppies and tea are the best around. Seafood is fresh and tasty. Do not care for their coleslaw but my husband likes it. Clean small family place with 100 % health rating on every visit we have ever had....will be back next year too..

I heard so many good things about this place. The positives are the service was stellar, the prices are the lowest in town for any seafood restaurant and the portions were huge. The negatives are the cocktail sauces looked fermented, the oil the seafood was cooked is was seriously in need of changing, and I did not want to take my food home because it was the worst excuse for friend seafood I have ever (and probably will ever) have in my entire life.

Having eaten here several times, last two trips very disappointing. My wife's founder was way under cooked. Second piece almost as bad. Definitely not a do-over from here out. grillchef

I stopped at this place on my way to Carolina Beach. Don't be fooled by the exterior of this restaurant. Inside the atmosphere is laid back, the place settings are basic, nothing fancy here. The staff is courteous and the service is prompt. Most of the seafood is fried and the portions are huge and being on the road for serveral hours, that's exactly what I was looking for. I ordered fried oysters with hush puppies and fries. The portions were generous and the quality of the food was excellent. I will definitely go back for more.

I went in not sure what to expect, but I loved it. The hush puppies and sweet tea was a hit, then I got fried and steamed shrimp, the steamed shrimp could have used a little seasoning, but the fried shrimp was right on! The service was very good also, my sweet tea never went dry. Very clean and the decor was what I expected from a little fish fry place down near the beach. Outside of the seasoning the only other thing I thought could use a little help was the price; just a little high... but for down at the beach pretty good. The portion size was good also, just right as far as being full but not regreting it later. Over all I would say excellent and would suggest it to anyone living in Wilmington or just visiting for the week or weekend.
