I've traveled up and down the east coast and for Thai food this little resturaunt is hard to beat. I live in nearby Wilmington and easily give it a star over Indochine and easily two stars over Thai places in Raleigh. Their peanut sauces actually taste like peanuts not peanut butter. The coconut soup is awesome. Over the years some of the staff may change but their curry dishes remain great. If you are a Foodie looking for Thai food and conversation put Thai Peppers on your schedule. If you looking for a classic resturaunt setting with a slobbering staff to feed your ego as well then don't go here.
PS: I miss Jimmy, a great waiter that has yet to meet a stranger..
I live in Southport and this is the only place that I can truely say has the best food in town. Yes, it might take a little longer than some places take to make the food and that is because it is fresh and done right. The food is amazing and it is always seasoned just right and hot. As far as the wait staff goes you are a pig for calling someone fat, because what does that have to do with anything. If you want a perfect world where everyone is the same size then you better go and find your own planet; big people are part of this world God created and we are here to stay.
No matter what time of year we go to this place, we are very happy with it and as a matter of fact, we are going there for dinner tonight. I have been in restaurants where the smell and the place was really nasty and that made me walk out, but I have never experienced that in Thai Peppers. I have also never seen the cook come out and smoke in the restaurant and besides January starts the new law of no smoking in restaurants. :) On a few ocassions, I have asked to see the cook because I wanted to thank him for such a tasty lovely meal.
Truth of matter is..food was Okay, spoons and plateware were far worn out.. A over weight white gurl as my waitress was the first turn off..then seeing dried food on the wall next to my seat made my stomach turn as the head cook came out to smoke his cig in the dinning area..
Sad its the only Thai food in 50 miles.
Fact is in southport restaurants are at a small limit, this maybe reason their still in business..not to many other choices if stuck in town.
I LOVE this place. I only get to Kure Beach once every few years, but one of the things I look forward to the most is taking the ferry to Southport for THAI PEPPERS! My food has always been amazing! Not only that, but the service is always so good I know I can get to THAI PEPPERS at 5 when they open and still make the last ferry back to the beach by 6:15. What an unexpected treasure! To the person who had the bad experience, I wish I had a frozen section like yours at my local grocers. If it's better than THAI PEPPERS it must be totally amazing! Sorry you had a bad visit. Try them again! Speaking from experience, all restaurants have off nights- new waitstaff, a cook walks out or no-shows... give 'em another chance! And this time try the Pad Ped with pork. WOW!!!!!
I think this place was just awful. The service was terrible, we waited a long time for the food to arrive - then the order was messed and frankly the food was terrible - I have eaten alot better out of the frozen food department of my local grocery store. I wouldn't recommend it all all.
THE BEST resturant I have ever been to! The food was incredible, the service was great, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Many vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes to choose from, all freshly cooked and delicious. And to top it all off, it's surprisingly inexpensive. If you like Thai food, this is THE place to go. I just can't say enough about it.
