Freddie's Restaurant, Kure Beach

I have only been there once and will NEVER go again. We were treated rudely by the wait staff (Adam - who was more interested in the woman behind the cash register), waited a long time for our food (delivered cold), and when one of my friends tried to send her food back because it was cold and she didn't want to pay, they called the police. I have NEVER been treated so rudely at any restaurant EVER. The staff is confrontational. Yes, the portions are large, but the food is cold and not that great compared to some other restaurants in nearby Wilmington. Save your money and go to a QUALITY restaurant, like the one two doors down that happily greeted us later that evening, even though they were getting ready to close. Now THAT place was AWESOME!!!

As we walked in with our Harley jackets on...mind you it was snowing...we were rudely turned away and not even offered a bar stool to wait...No, we did not have reservations....I have eaten there before without them..had to wait...no problem! As professionals, we looked like hoodlums in our $300 a piece harley jackets! We will never enter the door again! I have now left 2 phone messages and no one has returned my call yet! As a Kure Beach/Holden Beach (yes 2 houses) on the coast, we will find another FINE establishment that serves even better food and most likely will be more affordable for the average Joe!

Freddie's is the first place any of my local friends mentions when I ask where they would like to eat for their birthday. They have the best ribeyes and pork chops on the beach. Sure that sounds odd to say about an Italian themed restaurant but anyone can make a decent Italian dish. Ask anyone who has had an overcooked steak or undercooked pork chop and they will confirm what I am saying. And the toppings for the steaks and chops are amazing. Don't be scared by the $20 prices. Unless you are a binge eater you will be bringing home tomorrow's lunch. And the staff is very efficient and easy on the eyes. I know, that sounds shallow, but who wants a server who looks like they are homeless or like they just got cast in an MTV reality TV show? Appearance does mean a lot and the uniforms are very professional looking.

Since the last review was done in 2007 let me update you to 2009. Average as far as Italian American food goes. Sauce was ok if your not to picky, ordered eggplant parm without mozz cheese, it is served with round pieces of eggplant and the skin was not even removed. And as far as restaurants in the Carolina beach area , this was ok but then again not much too chose from that have good food ,good prices , and staffs that look like that they couldn't be bothered . The best place to eat ever!!! Everything is delicious, from their lasagna to the seafood dishes and especially the chops. There is no better staff anywhere. And if you have to wait, which you probably will, try to get a seat at the bar, Jeremy is an awesome bartender. We eat there every time we are in Wilminton area.

Without question the best food on the beach!!!

The food is delicious and the service is great. We love the salad and bread and the spaghetti bolognese. We eat there every vacation.

My husband and I lived in Wilmington from 1999 to 2000 and we loved Freddies. Every time someone came to visit we took them to Freddies. Their pork chops are great so tender you can cut them with a fork. Especially the apple pecan pork chop!!! We still compare every pork chop we eat with Freddies. We are going to visit Wilmington this summer mainly to eat at Freddies. If you ever get the chance go by and eat there!!! It is wonderful.
