Riverboat Landing, Wilmington

My boyfriend lives in Wilmington, and took me to this restaurant back in May. We had an appetizer and an entree, and I have to say everything I had that evening was FANTASTIC. Downtown Wilmington is one of my favorite spots, and he reserved one of the best balcony spots over the Cape Fear River. The tables were kind of small (for the small balcony) but that didn't really bother me. Overall, nice food, nice service... A+ for Riverboat Landing.

Enjoyed it, the prices were most reasonable compared to the other places downtown during the Peak Season. Granted the waitress was not very outgoing, but she DID use a tablet to get the order right, DID have my meal cooked correctly (thanks Chef) and DID offer us desert, coffee, and drinks (which is why I usually get those) so all in all, I enjoyed the food, looking at the insanity outside, and the service which was prompt, very well pre bussed and relaxing! Who cares if she wasn't bubbly and overly attentive, she did a FANTASTIC JOB and my elbow was never in food! Great food and ACTUALLY REASONABLE IN PRICE!

The worst dining experience I have ever had. Do not go to this place unless you enjoy horrible service and bad food. It is a shame that a place with such a nice location is so horrible.

Not suited toward the lighter fare. Not a nice place for a veagan.

I was surprised to read the review below mine. I recently ate dinner at the Union Cafe with my wife and found it to be great. The servers were polite and helpful and my meal was excellent. I had a perfectly cooked steak while my wife had a huge salad that she was craving again the next day. After dinner we had a drink in the bar and the bartender was funny and entertained us with local ghost stories. The bar had a nineteen-twenties feel to it, the drinks were cold and the music was cool...so what's not to like? If we are ever in Wilmington again I'll definitely return.

To start off, this restaurant is one of the worst upscale restaurants in Wilmington for several reasons. First, it took at least ten minutes for a host to come see us. Then, once we got seated upstairs, it took another ten minutes or more for a waitress to come see us outside. All together the service was extremely slow. The glass that came with the wine we ordered was very small and both the waitress and the manager were very condescending and insulting when discussing the wine portions. The manager then insulted me that I didn't know what I was talking about (I worked at wine bar) with the right pour size for wine. To top it off, the food portions were very small and the other patrons began to complain about the service. I've worked for several years in the restaurant business and this BY FAR was the worst service I have ever received. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone and would suggest elsewhere to spend your money; especially with the plethora of restaurants to dine at in the Wilmington area.

This is my favorite restaurant in Wilmington!! The food is pricey, so save it for those special occasions only. Great place for a romantic meal because there are 2 person balconies outside the windows upstairs that give you a GREAT view of the river and the old fashioned paddle boat outside. The filet mignon is pan seared so ordering it well done is never a problem and it melts in your mouth. Follow it up with creme brulee and a dessert martini. Also, call ahead and make reservations!
