If you want good Italian food, Maggiano's is the place -- but go on a regular weeknight for good service.
This was our 3rd experience at Maggiano's in Charlotte. The first two were on week nights, but this time we went on New Year's Eve. We had a 7 p.m. reservation. When we arrived we were told that the 5 p.m. crowd hadn't left, and there would be a 15 minute wait, which was fine. At 7:30 we were told our table was being made ready. At 7:55 we were told the same. At 8:05 we were taken to a table that was still being set up. There were 15 in our party. Someone mis-counted because the couple at the next table were asked to move to another table so they could add that table to ours! I was mortified. We were left standing in the way of the other diners and wait staff while tables were made ready. At about 8:45 a tray of appetizers was brought to one end of the table, but nothing was brought to the other end for another 20 minutes. Wait staff were confused, carrying trays around asking who ordered the food. Water and tea glasses were left empty for long periods. We finally finished the meal at 11 p.m.! New Year's plans for several in our party were shot. This experience was not limited to our table. Other diners who were seated before us were still there when we left. Apologies were made, but I would like to know what went wrong. The food was good -- but not great. The service was poor and disorganized. Chaos would be the best one-word description of the evening. What a shame!
One of the best places in Charlotte to eat. The food is great but the service was subpar. I loved they way you could just sit and have a wonderful meal without to much interruption but the service was just very bad.
Made a reservation because the wait time is always too long. Still waited nearly 30 minutes though after we arrived in time for our reservation. The waiter couldn't remember the specials and hadn't taken time to write them down on his pad and couldn't answer basic questions about the menu. Refills on our drinks arrived as the bus boy was cleaning away our plates. I had Chicken Saltimbocca... couldn't taste the prosciutto, the cheese looked like it was fresh from the dairy section at the Harris Teeter and quickly cut and slapped on top. The chicken itself was good. All in all the food was average, and the service was really bad. Very disappointed.
I absolutely LOVE this place! The food is wonderful, especially the cheese ravioli and cheese cake! the ambiance is great. It is very classy, 9 out of 10 times I have been here they have a pianist playing in the lounge. the bar area is very nice and relaxing. I reccomend this to anyone that is looking for a great date spot!
