We went to this restaurant to celebrate a small family reunion. We made 7:30 PM reservations. When we got there the manager acted like he saw two heads. He said it would be a couple of minutes but that turned to be 30 min's. I was ready to leave but my family said since we were here we should just wait. Well it just kept going down hill from that point. We were finally seated with no napkins and half of the silver wear. They forgot some of our drink order and the manager was brining us the food not sure where our waiter went. Then they forgot my sister's meal. It was just a mess!! And the food was not good and overpriced. I will never go to place again!!! It was one of the worst dining experience we have ever had!!

The restaurant's ambiance is sparse - probably because it was largely empty when we arrived. Turns out there's a reason for that. The first course was bland - that's the best thing that could be said for it. The real problem with this establishment, however, is the incredibly poor management; the worst service you will ever get in a Charlotte restaurant. The service we recieved at the hands of the manager was outrageous. After receiving drinks (caipirinhas) which most closely resembled roach spray, our party politely asked to send the (unconsumed) drinks back in exchange for something potable. We were approached after 10 minutes by the manager who brusquely informed us that he would be happy to "add some sugar" to the drinks but it was against the restaurant's policy to replace them and remove them from the bill. The coup de gras came when, as he was removing the soup dishes, he snidely inquired if we expected the soup to be removed from the bill because it was left unfinished. We promptly left the restaurant and the only two other people in it and we will not be back. If you enjoy incredibly bland food, you'll enjoy pretty much everything on the menu.

Over the last few months, the wait time for lunch has gotten longer and longer at Latorre's. Now it is at the point where it is ridiculous. You spend 50 minutes waiting for your food and 15 minutes actually eating it. Avoid the headache, go somewhere else.

HOT-HOT-HOT!!

This is a great place for a first, second or every date! First things first.. the Mojito's (their signature drink) is so addictive.. I drank 3 before I realized that I needed help walking. The food has great presentation and tastes fantastic! The portions are big enough if you're a "baller on a budget" and you have to split an entree. At 10pm the place opens up the 2nd floor where they have a great salsa club. They have instructors there the 1st hour to teach you some basic steps, then it's "Livin la Viva Loca"!! My boyfriend is really shy, but this is one of his favorite spots now! Go check it out.. they won't disappoint!

Very Good!

My husband and I had a deliscious, quiet meal at Latorres. The Mojitos are addictive. The food was well prepared and the service was excellent. One tip: go before the night crowd arrives.

Very good food!

Very good Latin cuisine. Apparently, LaTorres transforms into a latin night club late on the weekend, as well. Not my scene. Go for the food and ambience...highly recommended. Perhaps someone else, into nightclubbing, will review that aspect.

Great lunch spot!

First of all the restaurant has a great Uptown location just off Tryon Street. The decor is colorful and in keeping with the Latin ambience, there are 2 floors in which to dine and so it never seems overcrowded. The wait staff are helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. The food is really very good and my favorite is a salad called Langosta con Mango, which is Lobster meat and fresh mango, tossed with field greens in tangerine lime vinaigrette and served with arepa corn croutons! For $10 it is moderatley priced and makes a delightful change for the taste buds, compared to other drab offerrings at other establishments. You can eat as inexpensively as $6-7 for lunch or try one of their Signature dishes at a little under $30.
