Naniki Restaurant, Barbados

The service was not good and the food not worth the money or time. The place was terrible to find, and the toilets very poor.

My mother while half way through her lunch at the resturant took a bit of her food and realized it had a very strange texture, so she removed it from her mouth. At first she could not make out what it was, but as she looked closer realized it was a ball of hair!!! She immediately brought it to the manager's attention who half heartedly apologized, removed her plate and took it back to the kitchen to "investigate it further" On that day there were serving a local favorite--Black Belly Sheep--which when prepared properly sans the hair can be quite delicious. Now here comes the best part: The manager returns to inform my mother that it was indeed the hair from the animal on special and that it must have fell into her food while it was being prepared. My mother then asks for a glass of water to calm her now churning stomach and the manager goes to get this for her. Upon his return he then makes a pathetic attempt to make light of a situation that is so far from funny he asks her "Is this ok, or would you like some hair in it?" That is where the limit of my mother's disgust was reached, not just about the food, but moreso about the lack of tact used by the manager when handling the situation. Please be careful when eating there, because it is obvious that a lack of care is taken when not only preparing and serving the food, but also handling the needs of the patrons. My family and I will not be patronizing this establishment again and I think anyone who does ought to take heed.

Naniki was the ultimate location! We reserved seating for their Sunday brunch over the Christmas holidays. It was great: the food, the scenery and rum punch was worth the trek up to Horse Hill. The live jazz music and singer really completed and complimented the atmosphere. I would totally recommend to try Naniki for a Sunday brunch for sure. We were very impressed. The property and cottages were very impressive as well. We were able to have a tour of them. Tom the owner of the establishment also introduced himself to us-very nice man and very attentive to make sure all the guests were enjoying themselves. We'll definitely be back!

I was blown away by the overwhelming beauty of this place. The quiet serene world shared by the Green Monkeys of Barbados filled me with delight. I can hardly recall the food for my eyes were looking at paradise unspoiled.Sitting on the deck with a view of the Atlantic Ocean in the distance brought peace to my soul. Reaching Naniki is a bit difficult for the turns and twist of the winding hilly roads seems endless,then, it's the, "Wow Factor" well worth the drive. Now that I have discovered this piece of paradise I will go back again and again. If you love nature at its best I am sure you will too. The owner will take your picture and enlighten you on the history of this special place.

Excellent views, I liked the whole Eco idea, The cottages was well equipped and cozy with a Jacuzzi. Being a small eater, I was happy with the portions, no waste, or caloric pile-ons. However, I felt that the food could have been a little warmer. I love hot meals. Would definitely go again, and tell my friends.

The views are amazing and the greeting very friendly. The owner Tom Hinds came to introduce himself and spoke a little of the eco lodges just about to be completed. The food was dissapointing, very basic, small portions and the vegetables were cooked to within an inch of their lives. Go have a drink enjoy the view and array of flowers. It really is worth a visit.

The views and location are worth the trip, but buy a drink at the bar and admire the view, eat somewhere else. Portions are tiny and my vegetarian meal was boiled carrot and boiled green beans on lettuce. Luckily a small portion, but after a dessert too I was starving and as soon as I arrived home had a milk shake to fill me up while I heated the remains of the previous evenings curry. Glad to have seen the view and the interesting builing but I won't eat there again.
