Some of the food is good, and the muffins are great. But the service is slow,,and the management is unprofessional and nasty. Went there for lunch with a friend last year near x-mas,,,place was crowded, expected a wait,,,,but after 45 minutes my order had not come ,,and couldnt find the waitress anywhere,,,the other side of the restaurant was getting served much faster. When I went to the manager,,,he was nasty and said they were really busy,,,I said how long does it take to make a cold chicken salad sandwitch? I had a similar problem the year before,,but I thought to give them another try. No more!! If you cant handle the lunch crowd,,,,then your in the wrong business!!
A small menu, but good food. This place used to be only for lunch but recently added dinner and Sunday Brunch. The food is good and the atmosphere is above average (downtown historic building). The service is always slow and not a good place if you've got kids or or in a hurry. This place is the hot spot for older wommen out doing lunch (eating quiche). But, I really like their Bacon/Blue cheeseburger. No beer/wine at lunch not sure (but doubt it) for dinner.
I live an hour away from this restaurant, and sometimes make the trip just to have lunch here. Menu has an impressive variety of sandwiches, salads, and soups. Service is brisk and professional without being formal, folksy or rushed. They bring you poppy seed muffins right off the bat. Food’s tasty, never disappointing. Prices are average. I think one of their signatures is the iced apricot tea, which I love. They serve wine, and what look like desserts made on-site. The dining room is large, and has a wooden floor and a pressed tin ceiling, but because of the high ceiling, the noise level isn’t a problem. Everyone seems to know each other, but I never feel like I’m trespassing, which is sometimes the case with a locally popular restaurant like this. I like that the backs of the booths are high, so you can have a private conversation. Decor is a little on the funky side, but interesting (old pictures of local buildings). It seems clean, but I noticed that the sanitation rating is only 93 point something. I never regret going here, something you can’t always say about a moderately priced, locally owned restaurant.
Love the meeting place! And the owner, Ms. Anne, is just the SWEETEST. Her famous muffins and apricot tea is what I look forward to the most when going back home...my favorite place in all of little washington. And they have a new dinner menu I'm dying to try!
17 box lunches were ordered and delivered to our nearby function at the specified time. Great fresh sandwiches, entrees, and vegetarian options. Included with sandwiches was a choice of cold salad item or chips, a pickle, and a couple of their almond flavored mini muffins, served in a nice box with utensils. Prices were reasonable. Everyone enjoyed it. It was particularly nice that they delivered. Will use this service again.
