Dirty Dick's Crab House, Nags Head

our first time ever at this establishment left a bitter taste in our mouths ! over 20 minutes of being there no one felt the desire to serve us in anyway. we politely got up and walked out while the seating staff told us to have a good night! Called the restaraunt back to let them know what happened , he was very apologetic said owner would call me back. which he did , once! i missed his call called him back left my name and number and never got a return call! guess he really doesnt care about his money paying patrons!!! our first time to ever visit this establishment will most likely be the last!

My entire family and I went to Dirty Dick's during the summer of 2010 . The food and service was EXCELLANT .. We are planning our next trip to NagsHead and I can promise you Dirty Dicks Seafood is number 1 on our list of things to do while there . We had 11 family members and everyone loved the food and the service .... They had the best crab legs and shrimp we have ever eaten anywhere and trust me we have eaten alot of seafood . I can't imagine anyone not loving this place at all . I give it a 10 plus rating !!!!!!

Food was great, atmosphere was great and the service was great. The crab cakes are incredible, and huge! Will definitely go back on my next return to OBX!

Worst seafood my husband and I have ever had/attempted to have. We are from Newport News, VA and have access to some great seafood. When we drove to the Outer Banks for the day for some fun in the sun and a good seafood dinner we picked Dirty Dicks. The waiter was great and even helped us pick out our food and offered his suggestions. We had always heard good things about the place. Well, when we got our food it was old and cold. The crabs legs were cold and the meat was dried out. Not edible. The corn on the cob was soggy and old. The potatoes were old and tasted strangely. The butter didn't even taste like butter!!! It looked and tasted more like an canola oil with just a bit of butter to give it color. We were very disappointed. When we told our waiter he was very kind and the manager came over- but seemed annoyed. They both agreed that the crabs legs were cold and the manager asked us if we wanted another plate... we were so grossed out that we declined. They did not make us pay for the meal, thank god. It is overpriced even for great seafood. I would suggest that you go elsewhere.

If you love crab and shrimp then you definitely need to know Dick. Dirty Dicks has some of the best if not the best crab on the beach. Sometimes the price is high, others low, it just depends on the market. They do have a sit down restaurant with a full menu jam packed with other local catches but the wait staff sometimes leaves a lot to be desired and a lot of the food is battered and fried. I personally pick mine up from the shack and take it back to the room.

Didn't particularly like the name, but oh well, the Blue Crab was excellent. Also had a large variety of other local, fresh, crab. I don't recommend the fish since it seems to be the typical Carolina style breaded and deep fried, and I don't particularly like that. Again, this is a crab shack, the crab was excellent, with lots of crab dishes on the menu. After moving to Raleigh from South Florida, my wife and I searched unsucessfully, for a year, to find a good seafood and/or crab shack in the Raleigh area. We ultimately ended up driving three hours to the Outer Banks to find good crab (and we spent the weekend in OBX too). We will most likely go back to Dick's since we know where it is and the crab was excellent, but the decor is a bit cheezy and tacky. Bathrooms were moderately clean, not pristine, but not afraid to use it either.

Pros: Good selection of crabs. Food and service decent enough. Cons: Seafood and regular menu items way overpriced... even a chicken finger platter was $11.
