Just a few steps from the harbour, this little restaurant serves Italian specialities. The decor is quite simple, with rustic tables, beautiful frescoes and pretty colours brightening up its walls. As for the menu, you'll feel even closer to Italy with the large choice of pasta on offer: tagliarini, cannelloni, as well as ravioli with mushrooms, lobster or fillet of duck. For dessert choose the tiramisu - it's excellent.
The Service was extremely slow. We spent 3 hours in that restraunt (mainly from waiting). The food was vile, and the prices were high. The ambience was the only thing that was not too bad.
Do not go here! Find somewhere else!
Although the food in Allegro was ordinary the service and attitude of the management and staff made our visit extremely unpleasant. It was certainly a case of the customer is always wrong! Things went amiss throughout the meal, service was extremely slow, a few of the party where presented with the wrong dishes and the waiter brought wine over which we hadn’t ordered and had to send away. It was the bill at the end, however which caused the most stress and left us all feeling like we had been well and truly fleeced. The price per head for the bread (hard and white) and water (on our tables as we arrived) was equivalent to that of our main courses. We were also originally billed for 4 bottles of wine when we only had one, the manager deducted 2 bottles of wine from our bill (no apology or explanation give) but refused to deduct the 2nd bottle stating that it had been brought to our table. Our reasoning that we had not ordered the second bottle and had sent it away untouched could not persuade him otherwise. I would urge customers to stay away from the Allegro as it really does not deserve any custom.
