Not too many years ago, this was a place I could get a huge burrito for a very decent price, see some local art, and relax. Since then, it has morphed into an eclectic diner for folks who want a Chapel Hill experience. Prices went up and value went down. People may drive to visit and spend (for now), but I'd really like to see a spot that can actually feed and satisfy the hardworking foodies and locavores that comprise Chatham County. Luckily, Pittsboro has a couple new spots that look promising: tasty, healthy, local, and funky.
This place tries to be too much to too many people, and as such it kind of suffers from multiple personality disorder. The food is where the General Store Cafe truly shines. Save room for dessert!
