Was here 2 years ago. Had a bad experience back then only because the brewmaster (a woman) was very unfriendly and rude to us. But we were in Davis again this past weekend and wanted to get mixed drinks, and this place was the only place opened that had Liquor. So we tried it again. The brewmaster was there again, and waited on us. We killed her with kindness and tried to loosen her up and even get her to smile. She treated us ok but still was not friendly. Did not want to eat there because there are much better places to eat in the area. Brew was decent and pretty cold. We would probably go back again, Only because my friend must have her Long Island Iced Tea, and I, my Cold Bud Lite!!!
This seemed like more of a bar than a restaurant (not saying that's a bad thing). The food wasn't great, but edible. The beer is okay and the bar is big. Since there aren't too many nightlife choices in Davis, this place will suffice.
The wheat beer didn't taste like any other wheat I've ever had. It tasted like budweiser. The pale ale was horrible and not hoppy as advertised. The Porter did taste like a porter is suppose to taste. The food was overpriced. The Sauerbraten and Spatzle that I had was terrible. The food was lukewarm. Service was okay but the waitress was over-extended. As she cleaned up the tables, she made alot of noise that took away from the atmosphere. Fake flowers outside should have gave it away that this place isn't a quality restaurant or brewpub. Look for other restaurants in this area.
On slow weeks Wednesday night wings my be the only place you will find a crowd. The pool room is off from the bar. Many good Wednesdays night have been had there. They brew thier own beer on site. Between the great brews and good people(Joy is a kick, always smiling) good times are easy to come by.
