Young Chow's Restaurant, Beckley

I love to go to this place when we are in Beckley. I love the house(Young Chows chicken). If you happen to go at lunch time then it is really cheap and you have food left over! They have great mixed drinks and wontons as well.

I am a Local and my family visits Young Chow's on a regular basis. The food and service is normally good. Although, on this particular evening, we were seated quickly, served the chips and sweet and sour salad, and then waited 30 minutes(after calling over the waiter that sat us) before we were asked what drinks we would like and if we were ready to order. The food was not very warm after it finally made it to our table. All of the other waitresses passed by our table and ignored us. Apparently we were seated at a table that was not assigned to anyone.

I have been to Chinatown in San Francisco, Chinese Restaurants in NY and Hong Kong Harbor "The Best Chinese Restaurant" in Atlanta (Atlanta Magazine). Young Chow's is some of the best Chinese I have ever had. It is not authentic Chinese, so if you're looking for that you'll need to travel farther than the hills of WV. The taste, portion and presentation of the food make up for the above average price. I would stay away from the sushi- the tuna and salmon did not look high quality. Then again, I think you would be hard pressed to find good sushi anywhere here. The restaurant has been around for many years- which is generally a good sign. If you are ever in Beckley and craving Chinese, I would put it at the top of the list.

The food is always great, the service is fast, and the drive-thru window is convenient. If you're a sushi fan, theirs is definitely worth a try. Probably my favorite carry out pick in Beckley!

There is nothing better than calling in an order and picking up some Specialty Chicken, wonton soup and an order of fried dumplings and then going back home to watch a good movie. Well packaged and just as good as if you were sitting in the restaurant!

Young Chow's Chinese Restaurant is a local staple, serving the highest-quality Chinese cuisine. Forget going to one of the many local Chinese buffet's that dot the town if you are in Beckley. Young Chow's is a family-owned, family-operated business that gives you fast, friendly service right at your front door. (If you're in the mood for dining out, the restaurant is beautifully decorated with firelight and an indoor water fountain. It's a wonderful place to take a date or to have a special dinner or lunch for Mother's Day, a birthday, or Father's Day.) The food is first-rate, much, much better than the buffet. The sushi is rolled fresh and made-to-order. The spider roll (a soft-shell, deep-fried crab roll with mayo) is really, really good, and the spicy tuna roll rocks. Their crab rangoons and cheese wonton's have something really special in how they are folded and the filling and wonton are just better than those you find on the buffet's. All of the food has a fresh, just-made quality and taste that really will make you happy you chose Young Chow's. Delicious food and great service at a reasonable price is what you get at Young Chow's.

In a word: awful. I was wondering why my crispy duck was taking so long, they were giving it the care to leave it in the deepfryer for 40 minutes and render it inedible. It was certainly crispy, though. I would give no stars if I could.

This is a classy place. It doesn't have that chain restaurant sameness that you get with Chinese buffets. They have a big selection. The food is great. The building and dining rooms are very nice. Good service. Young Chow compares very favorably with top Chinese restaurants in big cities.
