I had the ravioli dish and was not impressed. The same dressing was used for the ravioli that was used for my salad; I was disgusted by the same taste and was unable to finish my dish. The chef was attempting to be innovative and tried something different then your typical chain restaurant. However, the combination of taste was so overwhelming, that it was to much for the palate. I'm sure the rest of the food served is better. The Peppermill is highly recommended by everyone in Abingdon. Though I wouldn't recommend the ravioli. I'm willing to try other dishes. The restaurant is wonderful, I enjoyed the layout, truly a different experience on dining. The dish presentations are inspired.Abingdon is a mecca for local chefs and restaurants. A comforting lack of chain restaurants.

The Peppermill

The Restaurant staff was excellent! The first time I have ever been there was a few weeks ago. I'm definitely coming back. Great food. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Not as expensive as you might think.

for tonight's experience, but I really like this place. The bread appetizer is a very flavorful 15-grain served with an interesting, whipped butter mixture. The salad -- it's just salad -- but it's amazing. What I had a problem with was that the trout special was WAY salty and WAY anorexic. Where was the fish? If I were starving, I would've been pissed off at that portion of fish. The potatoes had a bit too much rosemary, but the vegetable medley of mostly green squash was great. The by-the-glass wine selection is a bit sparse, but both times I've been to the Peppermill, the service has been perfect. Very attentive, but not overdone. Go ahead. Stop in. Don't be fooled by the nondescript exterior. It's fabulous on the interior!
