The food is ok. I had the chicken taquitos and it was nothing like i've ever had, it was awful. My kids, whom are also mexican food lovers, didn't take too well when we visited this restaurant. The staff acted as though we were a nuisance instead of patrons which kind of offened me. The sauces (salsas) are good, if they wouldn't be so stingy with them. We're from the south and the Authentic Mexican places are excellent with excellent service. I wished there were more authentic restaurants to choose from in the area with good food. I may go back to visit, but only at my husbands request, and also because the fajitos are ok.
I love the Chicken Fried rice with a side of flour tortillias. And the portion is big enough for two. I go to the one by Towne Center by Sandy Bottom. Very clean resturant, fast service, and wonderful atmosphere. Even when you order this togo, you get chips and salsa (both kinds) with your order just like if you were eating there.
I love Plaza Azteca. They are affordable, authentic mexican food. I love getting my taquitos but their burritos are a great value and very, very tasty as well. Their taco salads are the best around and their appetizer quesadilla is enough for a meal at a cheap price. My all time favorite though is the Queso Blanco. I can eat a huge bowl of it!!! I dont even need a meal. We just moved to DC where NO ONE carries queso blanco. They just have velveeta and we make the 3 hour trip back just for plaza. LOVE IT!
I love their frozen Margaritas, they have great fast service and you always feel that they want to please you. I wasn't as impressed by the bigger version on Jefferson or the one in Hampton. The smaller, more cozy version has it down. The food is good, not authentic but then again, we are in America, not Mexico. They tend to Americanize the food here. If you want some great drinks and service with a smile, Plaza Azteca won't let you down!
