The place was formerly a Chinese school. The interiors are a rich blend of reds and browns with a polished wooden floor and slate-topped bar complementing it. The food is simple and understated with dishes like Mussels and Frites, Oysters on the Half Shell, Cold-smoked Albacore Tuna and the like. Apart from these, the menu also features a variety of Steak Frites and wines. The food, the decor as well as the warmth of this eatery are what make it a neighborhood favorite!
Unbelievably delicious food. Completely exceeded my expectations. We dined on the divine cured pork chop and the succulent short rib. Best restaurant food I've had all year... and I'm a chef! I'd visit Victoria again just to eat at Brasserie L'Ecole.
While the reputation is for other things (I hear the duck is good), this place also does the best steak I've had in the city, and serves quality beers that most others do not carry (Leffe from Belgium is a good one).
