A large group of us ate here last week, and we were all seated promptly. The staff was very friendly and everything was served well. Decor is nice. The food, however, while good was priced a bit high. For $19, I got 6 fried shrimp. Six! Add in the baked potato and wild rice. I can see getting this for $10.99, but at $3 a bite, it was outrageous. Others in our group were up and down as well. I had fond memories of eating here five years ago on our wedding night, and I knew the prices were high, but I expected more food. I give four stars as the place is clean, nice, and well staffed and stocked. Just needs to work on the serving sizes and prices.
My wife and I ate at Bill's and both ordered the seafood plater. Her's was broiled and mine was fried. The oysters on both plates were so small they should have been embarrassed to serve them. My wife's plate had two shrimp on it and they were only a little larger than popcorn shrimp. I had about five shrimp on my plate and they also were small. The best part of the meal was the clam chowder. On the bright side the waiter was very good.
My wife and I had dinner at Bill's Seafood Restaurant in Chincoteague this evening. Food and service were absolutely wonderful and the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. I had the fried oysters and my wife had the scallops. Both were well prepared, well presented, and delicious. Overall, a very enjoyable evening.
my wife, son and I eat there for dinner at least once a month and have done so for a least 3 years and have never had a bad meal, the smothered flounder or the seafood norfolk , or the crab imperial are to die for, there is a heart attack in every bite but its worth it
This was recommended to us during our stay on the island. The salad tasted like it had been sitting out in the hot sun all day. The bread was good but they drip something over it so you can't eat it without getting your hands all gooey. The mixed drinks are terrible, stay far far away. The waitress never cam back to us (it was not that busy) so we had to get the manager to address our concerns. The waitress managed to get back to us when she saw the manager at our table! The food was just okay, although their steak sauce, which appeared to be made in-house, was very good. They offered free dessert but we just wanted to get out of there.
Would never go here again. Staff was terrible, food averaged from okay to disgusting. No thanks!
The seafood here is top notch as well as the very professional wait staff. Be sure to call ahead for a reservation. It's not often that I get good soft crabs. Not a problem at Bills. My family and I go to Chincoteague for a week every summer, and are never dissapointed with what Bills provides. A definite winner.
We had heard good things about Bill's so we gave it a try for lunch. Perhaps dinner and breakfast are better but we had a terrible experience. Service was bad. The waitress seemed to be trying to rush us through the meal, they were only moderately busy. She never smiled that I saw and she reached across my plate to pick up my glass and refill it without saying a word. I had a seafood sampler. Unfortunately you either have to have everything fried, or everything broiled, no exceptions. It must confuse the cook if you like your scallops broiled and your shrimp fried. Speaking of shrimp mine were way overdone--rubbery with little if any flavor. The Flounder was also flavorless, I doubt it was fresh at all. The crab cake was actually really good, and the clam chowder was decent. Clam strips and scallops might earn a mediocre rating. And the one oyster I found amidst my golden brown plate of food was a bit sandy. My review might be tainted by the excellent meal I had at AJ's on the creek the night before, now that place gets five stars! (Had pasta with lots of oysters, no sand). Some of the other reviews on this page recommend the cheeseburger and the eggs Benedict. Perhaps those are delicious, but don't go to Bill's for good seafood.
My husband and I visited Chincoteague Island this past weekend on our way home to New York from Nags Head, NC. We had heard about Chincoteague Islnd and it seemed about the halfway point of our trip so we decided to stay for the night. The hotel desk clerk recommended Bill's Seafood Restaurant and it was within a short walk of our hotel and gave us the opportunity to walk through the quaint little town. I have to say, the food was excellent, however it was overshadowed by the horrible behavior of the staff. Unfortunately we were seated near the kitchen door and we had a full view of the waitress area. I am assuming that the host is also the manager because the same man that seated us started ranting and raving at the waitstaff and then proceeded to start throwing things, including a pot of water, which was steaming, at one of the waitresses. We were appalled. I have heard of small town charm and the politness of southerners, but I can't believe the waitress allowed him to treat her like that. I hope he was fired and I hope she sues!
