Visited Capt. George's the summer of 2005. Had a party of eight. The service was perfect, but I got a bad surprise with my favorite dish; scallops. They were artificial! I couldn't believe this, especially at this establishment. When I asked about it, they said the scallops were out of season. Well that evening the local Harris-Teeter had them, so they weren't out of season.
I ate here about 7 years ago and everything was authentic and great. I'll probably never go back because the price just didn't equal fake scallops!
If you love seafood, as I do, you would love to go to Captain George's while you are in VA Beach. This is the place that we hit the first night that we are in town...it is a must!!! They have the largest selection in a buffet that I have ever seen and experienced when it comes to seafood. The food is fabulous...and it is always hot...the restaurant is always packed...it is one of those places that you just have to try, at least once. But I manage to go every year when I go to VA Beach. You do have some choices of chicken and beef on the buffet, but it is mainly focused on seafood. Crab Imperial is my favorite...I have had better because Crab Imperial is truly a gourmet dish, but I like it at Captain George's. The dessert bar has everything you would lust for in sweets. The ice tea is none stop...buy one...and get a refill all night long. They do have a service bar for alcoholic drinks also. It is a nice place to take the family and eat all you can eat. It is expensive but well worth it. Enjoy!!!
