Icehouse Restaurant, Virginia Beach

The looks of this place are deceiving but believe me the food is outstanding. Went on Thursday which was Rib night. Best ribs hands down. Generous portions all around. First time we ever had left overs of ribs. Prices are reasonable. Will be going back.

We recently ate at the Ice House. We had never been there before but they were participating in the VA Beach Restaurant Week and the menu they offered sounded good - so we decided to give them a try. I was a bit apprehensive when we first walked in as the place was almost empty (the weather was bad - so this was probably why) and the ambiance was... well... let's just say it was not exactly what I was expecting. (Fancy-schmancy, this place is definitely not) What this restaurant lacks in ambiance it sure makes up for with good, friendly service and GREAT food! We had the Lumpia and Spinach & Artichoke dip for appetizers and the St. Louis Ribs and Crab/Shrimp cakes for entrees followed by a delicious mochacino cheescake for dessert. It was all very delicious! Our waitress was very attentive and very friendly! If you not too concerned with ambiance, but are looking for good service and great food, then give this historic restaurant a try!

A++ from start to finish! Dropped in for supper before Lights at the Beach because of its proximity to the oceanfront and have nothing but praise. Our server was personal, friendly, prompt, delightful. Food was outstanding--hot, fresh, delicious. Tuesday special meatloaf was best ever, tasty gravy, yummy mashers, broccoli w/ hollandaise (a bit al dente for my taste, but still very good); crabcakes subtly flavored, onion rings crackly crispy, potato souffle light and appropriately onion-y, steamed shrimp generous w/ just enough old-bay-style seasoning, salads crisp and generous. Setting in historic icehouse gave casual comfortable ambience. Will definitely return to explore more of its varied menu and to experience the comfortable, homey-feeling neighborhood atmosphere.

the food is excellent, servers outstanding, and the cooks can't be touched. after the meal peek in the bar area and listen to locals tell tall stores about there life in shadow lawn and the surrounding area......never a dull moment thanks for the last 5 years..........fred

We have a condo at Virginia Beach, so are there every weekend. We stumbled into the Icehouse one evening and were very pleased. It's not on the beach, so is not full of tourists. The food was very good, prices reasonable, and the service attentive. Everything exceeded our expectations. Parking is easy. Definitely recommended!!

Great place to eat. Good for locals and tourists. Food and atmosphere are outstanding. Really enjoyed this place and will return.
