Exotic Marrakech can be really great if you follow a few simple rules. Do not hire a "so called" guide off the street no matter what they promise. Government guides will take you to the Medina and you can feel relatively safe There are sidewalk "tooth pullers" who will yank a tooth out while you sit in a folding chair. There are snake charmers and acrobats and pickpockets galore. Tell your guide at the very beginning you do not want to be taken into every csrpet shop and souveniere shop where he gets a commission (that of course is added to the price of your item.) Tell him you would rather tip him well at the end of the day.
