Description

The holy city of Teotihuacan ('the place where the gods were created') is situated some 50 km north-east of Mexico City. Built between the 1st and 7th centuries A.D., it is characterized by the vast size of its monuments – in particular, the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, laid out on geometric and symbolic principles. As one of the most powerful cultural centres in Mesoamerica, Teotihuacan extended its cultural and artistic influence throughout the region, and even beyond.

One of the pretiest places in Mexico

Like: The huge landscape and the scenery...When you first get there you're greated by the staff as if you were in a hotel... Then they re-direct you to where your New Adventure is, the pyrimids are visible once you have exited out of the side/back of the building. Honestly the luminous pyramids will leave you speechless and left to wonder; "How did they do this?" -The only thing that any one person might complain about/dislike is the rigorous workout you will receive...THERE IS A LOT OF WALKING

Peaceful

The pyramids were amazing. We spent the afternoon there and enjoy the beautiful view from every single pyramid. The atmosphere is very tranquil and spiritual. This was an amazing experience I will always cherish. The pictures I was able to take turn out amazing and I enlarge one for my work area to remind me of the peace I felt while visiting.

Loved the place...was hot and a lot of walking,,,but ...in the i got two of the little statues talking to me on video...shown it to many..and they are always like..what the hell..no b s. A very spiritual place 4 sure!

Awesome pyramids and views

Actually visited in January of 2000, a week after Y2K. I gave my wife her diamond ring on top of the Pyramid of the Sun-- I think it was 220 steps, and at about 10,000 ft elevation, you may have to rest once or twice on the way to the top, but what a view! Highly recommended!

this place was amazing, beautiful scenery, wonderful people, amazing food. honestly im so glad i went on vacation here.. believe me none of you all will regret it

The architexture was influence by the Olmecs, what many believe to be the mother civilization of mesoamerica and its widely believed the totomecs were the founders of the city. The Aztecs occupied it well after the building of the city.

You must see

The people, culture and history was amazing. You must go at least once to see them. A for those of you who suggest that the Aztecs builded the pyramids, you are incorrect. The Aztecs did live in Teotihuacan, but did not build the city. To this day it is not known who actually build the pyramids.

Not the Aztecs, as a previous reviewer said. And, it was occupied much later than 250 AD. It was inhabited until the 7th century AD at least. At its height it was one of the largest cities in the world. The people who became the Aztecs didn't migrate south until much later. The Aztec civilization was 14th century - 16th century AD.

Beautiful Place to visit

Very beautiful place like I said, walk to the top you won't be dissapointed, although the like another post said the civilization is incorrect, it should be the Aztec.
